Posted By: Dave Williams
I just picked up some cards, which appear to be W517 mini's.

They measure 1 3/4 by 2 3/4.

However, the Old Cardboard website says for the regular size W 517's, all
cards are numbered, and they show the regular size cards, all with numbers.

The mini's I just acquired all exactly match the poses on their website, but
do not have numbers.

Does anyone know if these are 517 mini's, or something else?

Here is the link to the ebay auction, with pictures of the cards.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140169535161&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=004

Thanks.

Posted By: Brad Green

If you see dotted lines or dashed lines at the top/bottom of the card, then it's a mini. If you don't see the dotted or dashed lines, then it may be cut from a 4/1. I see that several of your cards have dotted/dashed lines. I can't tell about the ones with baseball players...

There is more information on this. If you search net54 for W517, mini and Gehrig, you'll find some information.

Posted By: dennis
minis don't have #'s on them. the problem is the 4 on 1 postcards also use the same image and if hand cut are are close to the same size. as brad said the minis have the dotted lines so if you see those dots than it is a mini.if no lines it's anybodys guess. http://www.centuryoldcards.com/1930/1931W517.html

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Here is another W517 Mini to compare to. Like Brad said if it has the dotted lines (or usually remnants of them) than you can be sure of the W517 mimi designation.
-Rhett Yeakley

Posted By: George
David,
I was one of the low bidders on this lot and thought initially that these were W 517 cards until further researching after the auction (a little too late to have put in a stronger bid) and being 99% convinced that these were minis.

Based on all the above information from the board, these do fit the description. It's a nice pick up...I'm envious! Take care.

George
