Posted By: henry moseswhile David Grimes dealt mostly with non=sport cards and ephemera - I post this here as some of you might have come across him in one manner or another. I just got a call from Scott Hassel who is at a trade show without access to a computer. He received a call from David Grimes sister that he suffered a heart attack and died last night. The funeral will be some time Sunday afternoon but I have NO DETAILS. I am so saddened as I counted David as a friend. I believe he always did things honestly and will be missed as a interesting person - loving father - knowlegeble dealer willing to share and I'm sure much more. I am in the middle of something important and can't deal with this right now nor do justice to David's memory. I will try and post tomorrow and I think Scott's wife will call me with the funeral information. RIP David ever the Englishman. This one's for you <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>

He was always a great source for non-sports items and helped me find some cards of DeWolf Hopper and college silks/leathers/cards when I was looking for them. Met him first at Gloria Rothstein's old White Plains shows, but he did baseball card and paper/ephemera shows all over the Northeast. Very nice man. Posted By: Keith O'LearyI wanted to add, I knew David for over 15 years. He was knowledgeable and always took the time to talk when I saw him at a show, just loved talking cards. When he had something special to show me, I knew long before a word was spoken between us...you could see a twinkle in his eye and that cat that ate the bird smile on his face.

Very passionate and sometimes got into some debates with people on the non-sports side but only because of his passion and beliefs. Saw him at the national this year walking around. He was always a very friendly person and could unearth some great items. I bought many items from him on ebay over the years. He'll be sadly missed on the NS side.....Just remember, when it all boils down to it, this stuff is just cardboard......lots more important stuff......

I looked up his website and saw a link to his ebay auctions and it looks like he had some auctions that just ended a day or two ago...Is there anyone here who has some contacts with ebay who could get a message to them about what happened?

Always a very friendly guy that loved to talk about the hobby. You would always be attracted to his table, as he had an eclectic assortment of primarily Non-Sports and Sports items. I am very saddened that I will not be able to visit with him at the forthcoming Reading Show. TED Z

He had a bunch of S74 silks, and I purchased a George Gibson S74, which is now part of a George Gibson display piece which sits above my computer. In recent years, he had a booth at the Shriner's Auditorium Show in Wilmington, MA. I always stopped by to chat with him. He will be missed! Patrick
