Not only did he have some of the most important cards in the hobby, but the quality and condition of each card is exceptional. I recommend this catalog to any collector of pre/post war baseball cards.<br /><br />I have a question though, does anybody have the realized prices from this auction? Somebody said Amazon and sure enough they had four or five copies. I bought one pretty quick and then checked back the next day and they were almost all gone. <br /><br />Everybody- For those who were around and active in the hobby at the time of this auction, perhaps you could shed some light on it. Was this a truly defining moment in the hobby? Were the prices astronomical? It seems as though the entire auction catalog is an encyclopedia of rare cards. And, i still can't get over the fact that almost all of his cards were near mint to mint. I am not usually a condition sensitive collector (I don't think my collection has a card over ex condition, I perfer rarity over condition), however, Copeland's collection provides rarity with condition. <br /><br />Any information about the auction is greatly appreciated!<br /><br />Jeff Williams

Posted By: <b>Wolfgang427</b><p>Well I was at the auction in NYC at the time and though the prices were high, I did manage to buy a few lots. I think the Wagner PSA-8 is what really set the auction off. You should of seen the room go silent when the bidding started and ended with applause when a phone bidder(Gretzky-unkown to the floor) bought it.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>I participated in the auction and attended all the sessions. At the time I was focussed almost entirely on 19th century material. The hobby was different then. Things like cabinet cards and rare CdV's were very hotly contested. Actual cards were not as expensive. Cards have only skyrocketed in the last 5-6 years. Before that they were rather affordable.<br /> But the Copeland sale was a big event because there had never been an auction of that size or scope before.
