Posted By: Bob
Quan- It's the wife's account. I am on a month vacation as tbob from ebay because I withdrew a bid on a card that had 6 days to go but I withdrew it because I learned the next day that I had it. Ebay bounced my 5000+ transactions and 100% feedback account for a month while they let the scumbags who sell fakes and forgeries have free reign. Ah well, such is life....
tbob

Posted By: Tony Andrea
Hi Brian -
Almost complete. Only one more to go now, and you can probably guess which one that is.
I know Shoeless Joe's out there somewhere. I'll find him sooner or later.
I'm not sure what the next challenge will be yet. I'll think of something though.
I had an absolute blast with this set.

Tony

Posted By: Dave F
Thanks to Scott on this. I don't have anything in my measily collection that comes close to this...and being that I'm from Georgia Cobb is one of my favorites. I haven't even owned the ever so common Cobb T206's...this one will stay with me as long as possible....which may not be too long with the money in it...but until all the other spending money is dryed up anyway...love the card.

Posted By: JimB
Jay,
That Bridwell must be trimmed or doctored. T205s do not survive in that kind of condition.

Seriously thought, congrats on some great pick-ups. Those T205s are really nice. How about posting the Bridwell in the high-grade T205 thread.
JimB

Posted By: jay behrens
Jim, I used to own 37 t205s that I got to help open from packs in 1982, so my old t205 collection was pretty nice. I'd love to know what they are graded today. I paid the crazy sum of $400 for them. No major HOFers were pulled.

Jay

The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

Posted By: JimB
I would be in serious danger of pissing in my pants if I was opening that many packs with T205s! What a rush! Was there much chipping right out of the pack or were they pretty unblemished?
JimB

Posted By: jay behrens
It's was a group of 50 Honest Long Cut packs. I was just lucky enough to be allowed to open some packs. I didn't own the packs, but I was then allowed buy what was left over after the owner kept what he wanted. Eddie Collins was the biggest name HOFer I remember. I was really hoping for a Matty and Johnson to show up as the owner didn't want them so I would have gotten them.

The cards came out pretty clean. I forget exact numbers, but about 5 had stains from the tobacco bleeding thru the cig and then card. At least half the cards had noticeable chips, almost exclusively on the corners, but usually only one corner.

During this time frame around 1982, I saw packs opened with t205s and t206s. Being relatively new in the hobby, I just thought this was fairly common occurrence. I didn't see another pack opened with card, a Peidmont pack with a t206, at the 1988 San Fran Labor Day show. I saw two more packs opened after that, one had a t206, the other had a Flags of the World card.

Jay

The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
Jay - Honest Long Cut was scrap tobacco, not cigarettes (Honest actually didn't make cigarettes). The cards were packaged like they were with Polar Bear, directly in the scrap tobacco. So, it would be impossible for tobacco to bleed through the cig to the card since there were no cigs.

I'm sending the Waner in and curious just how well it will grade. under a loupe I can't find any flaws, not even any fraying at the corner and they measure up to other r314s I have.

Jay

The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.
