Posted By: Brett
Hey Everyone,

I feel bad for bombarding these message boards but I just recently found this site and am pretty happy with the community you guys have. Just out of curiosity I was wondering, in terms of looks, whether you preferred the T205s or T206s? Personally, I think that the gold border really makes those rich and bright colors of the T205s stand out. But I do think that both sets are pretty amazing to begin with.

Brett

Posted By: JimB
I love them both. Often it comes down to individual player cards. T205s can be really stunning at their best. In the end, I own about 550 T206s and only a handful of T205s, so I guess that gives my final answer. But I think T205s are beautiful cards.
JimB

Posted By: Russ Bright
I like T205's, and I hate this debate... I wish people would JUST collect... there IS no debate, some people like the white border, some like gold border, some like both...

I like both, but T205 more - the pictures are great and the Stats/info are very interesting - Obaks (the red backed ones) are similar as well, with the stats/info and great pictures...

Posted By: Bob Pomilla
While I prefer the rich colors of the t205's, the variety of poses recommends the t206's. Also love those backgronds, especially the sunsets. So, I guess I come down with feet firmly on both sides of the debate.

Agree with Russ, though, there really is no debate. I find something wonderful about all these little gems, regardless of the set.

Posted By: MVSNYC
as many people know, i have been a T206 collector for over 15 years...and only recently i started collecting T205...i am in LUST with T205 now. that's not to say that i won't continue collecting T206, but i am just really into the beauty and crispness of T205...especially the higher grade examples, they just jump out of the holder at you!

MS

Posted By: James Feagin
In my opinion, T205 National League portraits are about as beautiful as it can get. However, T205 American League portraits are busy and a little too ornate.

James

I also agree that n162s are one of the all-time great sets.

Jay

The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

Posted By: T206Collector
...of course.

I think the gold border is cheesy -- who buys yellow gold anymore?

I also think the AL portraits are awful. Cobb, who should be the peach of the set, looks terrible.

I also think the NL portraits distort the faces of the players, almost like being too close to the lens. Players' lips stretch across faces too far, sometimes the eyes are too big -- they often look half-men/half-fish. If you put a baseball cap on Gollum from the Lord of the Rings, he'd fit right into T205.

Gotta be T206.

Posted By: steve yawitz
I like both but prefer T206's. I was actually working on both sets for awhile but threw in the towel on T205's. For one, I'm fanatical about registration and T205's are particularly unappealing to me when they're even very slightly out of register, as is sometimes the case. And, as others have said, T205's might be the one issue where high-grade cards really blow away most low-grade cards - so it just wasn't working out for this avowed armpit collector.

That said, I love the gold borders - even though I too prefer white gold or platinum bling - and ornate AL design. Plus I think the stats and some of the descriptions on the reverse add a lot to the cards. I'll never start the set again, but I have kinda sorta been looking for some ex to ex/mt cards of some of my favorite players.

http://imageevent.com/yawie99
