Posted By: barrysloate
My internet and phone auction closes tonight September 20. All qualifying bids must be in by 6:00 PM EST. A three hour bonus period will last until 9:00 PM, at which time the 15-minute rules begins. When no bid has been received on any lot for 15 minutes the auction will end. You can access the site by clicking on the link at the top of every bloody page (I know, after today you won't have to look at it anymore!).
Thanks to all for bidding and good luck tonight.

Regards,
Barry

Posted By: barrysloate
The auction did very well and finished up around 11:30 PM.

I will note that the great pieces did very well, but the ones that are a little more common were a bit soft. Perhaps it's a sign of the times.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Barry, I thought that some of the items that didn't do as well might have been due to their inclusion in GAI slabs. We've all noticed how badly GAI's prices are slipping; perhaps going forward all GAI cards in the auction could be submitted for crossover prior to the auction. Also, you are comparing your prices to those from auction houses in which shill bidding is undoubtedly permitted. Your prices are most likely the true value for these cards.

Posted By: barrysloate
Jeff- I know the perception regarding GAI cards but some of the ones I had I felt were properly graded and likely would have gotten the same grades elsewhere.

And I agree when you don't run up ceiling bids you don't get the prices some others get. Just don't tell my consignors!

Posted By: Peter Thomas
Won 4 nice e cards all SGC 30,40,40&50, all HOF Crawford, Speaker, Evers & Mathewson for a little less than $1200 each with the 15% juice. I will go to the dentist this AM for surgery with a smile on my face. Maybe he will give me the good meds. Thanks Barry

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Barry -- I agree, that is the problem with GAI these days: even their cards that are properly graded take hits.
