Posted By: Matt
That looks like the exact same fake as was posted a few days back. We should start an ebay fraud seller list where we keep track of any seller known to be selling counterfit cards.

Posted By: ErlandStevens
Maybe I'm missing something, but the Old Mill Cobb doesn't have any obvious fake signs to me. At least the card looks OK. Even if you know nothing about front/back combos (and I don't), then Ted's fake is easy to spot on the typeface of the front alone. The Old Mill Cobb has the right type for the name/team. The fuzzy scans aren't reassuring. The seller does acknowledge the obvious trim on the top. My biggest problem with the Old Mill Cobb is that the seller has no recent feedback in vintage cards. It's not worth the risk IMO.

Posted By: Jim VB
I sent the PA guy a note asking if he knew that the card in his listing was a reprint. His reply:

"yes mine is kept in a bank safe wouldnt keep it at home its in a 3 inch screw down and my house has been broken into 2 times in 2 years i had a cap anson stolen so no cards at home i should have put that in there mine isnt graded ive seen and have many t 206 cards its a 1 to a 1.5 thats y my bid is so low i might have it on 2 more days and pull it i have a guy in phili offering me 350"

We better act quickly. That guy in "phili" sounds interested! (I am taking this response as a direct affront to the education system of our country.)
Frankly, I think this guy is a fraud in every sense of the word.

Change your socks, drink water, and drive on.

Posted By: Marc
It only gets funnier! I sent this 'scammer' an email this morning telling him his card was a reprint and that I was going to bid high and win the auction and refuse to send him the money. This is the response I got back from him today...

570triplejjj666 writes:

"since your probably some old miserable *** **** who has to revert to profanity due to your insecurity, the insult seems that you your self act as a child, no ur gonna tell me ur some big baseball dealer you can see inside my safe at my bank and that cards a fake to bid on it and dont pay ill take ur ass to court im an attorney i dont make stupid moves an run my mouth like you claiming and threatining to commit mail fraud try me, your the typical old ebay loser that stairs at his screen all day like ur ebay police you dont like my page or products dont bid keep ur nose out of my buisness nosie little rat bitch like a little old woman get a life"

I guess the 'attorney' must have skipped English class:)

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Golly, Marc,

You need to not mess with him. I thought it all amusing, grammar and all, until the end of his rant, when he called you a "r*t b***h". That is one serious taunt, give him wide berth.

Frank.

Posted By: barrysloate
Even attorneys have to take English 101 at some point.

If this guy's an attorney I'll eat his fake T206!

And did you also notice there is a fierce bidding war between a guy with 0 feedback and another bidder with a feedback of 1. You gotta love it!

Posted By: Marc
I guess the 'attorney' must have panicked and removed the item from EBay. I sent him a nice little reply that I was going to call his bluff. I told him that I would sign in under another username, win it and not pay him as I promised. As of today, still no response and the EBAY listing is now gone. LOL!!! I guess the sheer thought of any potential bid he may receive on the item would make him believe it could be me - worrying him to death he may not get his money. It sure was nice to turn the tables on one of these thieves.
