Posted By: Chris Ahart
I apologize for showing active Ebay auction, but I have a question relating to exactly such a listing. I've slowly developed an appreciation for this issue and have some questions for our more experienced collectors. The 2007 SCD shows the Yuengling's Ice Cream as having a frame around the player's name. Harrington's Ice Cream, according to SCD, shares the same format & has the framed player name & card number in the SCD photo. Tharp's Ice Cream shows an unframed player name & card number in the SCD photo. Sweetman Co. Inc. SCD photo shows an unframed player & card number as well.

For the Yuengling's Ice Cream issue what do you have with a framed player name & an unframed player name?

This live auction (I don't show this as means to promote an auction, it's just that not many of these come up & it allows for a direct comparison) shows the framed player name-

http://cgi.ebay.com/1928-Yuenglings-Ice-Cream-3-Joe-Dugan-SGC-50_W0QQitemZ130148533661QQihZ003QQcategoryZ57993QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This one that I have shows the players name and card number. As a full disclaimer- I had this card listed on Ebay & have ended the listing prior to this posting. As I have become more familiar with the issue, I have grown more curious with the possible rarity between framed versus unframed names.

The back of mine & I'm sure the live auction states Yuengling's Ice Cream on the reverse.

To those who have examples of this issue, can I please have you submit your player name, card number, & whether your version is framed or an unframed version? Thank you.

The set has since been retired and I think many of the cards has been sold (he could still have some for sale on his site). He put up scans of all the cards and they are still there. You could look through them and catalog the framed/unframed cards.

http://www.psacard.com/set_registry/display_cards.chtml?rsetid=50505&alltime=yes&rank=1&tied=0&requesttimeout=9999
