Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
The colors look off, the borders are non-existent and only a moron would sell a 52 Mantle without having it graded.

Posted By: JimB
The tell-tale sign of these scam artists is they did not study well in English class in high school.
JimB

"If you win this card, Payment is DUE the same day the offer is **excepted** unless it is done after the close of business. We will not Accept PayPal for this payment, only wire transfer or direct deposit. **Are** feed back is over 1000 and it is 100% positive."

Posted By: Paul S
What Jeff said!
And even if the scan was overadjusted, I've never seen an unadulterated Topps 52 with borders like that.

Posted By: TONY
I emailed him & asked him who authenticated the card.

his reply, I got it from my father 15 yrs ago, so that settles it

why waste money sending to a reputable grading service

I asked if the card was trimmed?

He stated No, just the scan makes it appear that way

There are no borders, but what do u expect for such a fair price?

I would like to see Ebay have a rule any card worth $5k or more would have to be authenticated or graded by the Big 4 or it couldn't be listed on ebay

But don't see that hapepening in my lifetime

Posted By: Jeff Prillaman (cavaliercards)
Authenticating this particular card is actually a rule -- there is a list of about 15 sports cards that have to be authenticated to be sold on ebay. It is not published anywhere on ebays website but my account rep sent me the current list about a month ago. (I had listed a Jordan rookie that was not authenticated and found out the hard way when my auction was shut down -- the 86 Fleer Jordan is on the list as well)

A simple email to trust and safety shuts the auction down, problem is trust and safety doesn't work on the weekends and I assume Monday as well.

Posted By: Kevin Saucier
If you look close at scan of the back you can see what seems to be PSA plastic rails. I would guess the back scan has been taken (stolen) from a legit card.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Kevin, good catch.

The colors look so off that it almost appears to be a reprint.

PS: nice to see that with 100% positive feedback of over 1000 a fraud can still occur.

Posted By: Chris
I think this account has been hijacked. Look at the sellers other items. All his images have a watermark with his name but not the Mantle. Also different phone numbers listed in thye Mantle auction and the other auction.

Posted By: Dan P.
I had a Gretzky rookie (Topps) rejected by ebay because it was ungraded. Once I got it graded I had no problem listing it.

Posted By: Eric
I'll agree with what Chris said. Also that Mantle auction isn't even in the same format as all his other auctions, and there is no square trade seal on the Mantle auction. Payments accepted says PAYPAL, but he doesn't accept paypal? Too many red flags.

Maybe someone should contact the seller using the number in all his other auctions to let them know.

Posted By: David Smith
Funny, the auction was ended by the seller because of an "error in the listing".

David
