Posted By: Ed McCollum
Over the past month or so, I've been auctioning off most of my t206 collection on eBay. No real problem until the last seven days, when I had a Heinie Wagner, bat on left shoulder card for sale. Clearly labeled as H Wagner, bat on left shoulder, with scans of the front and back, I had one bid retraction early on from someone who thought I was being deceptive, trying to pass off another card as a Honus Wagner card, and just now, the winner of the auction has e-mailed me to say he would like to retract his bid, he thought this card was someone else (maybe Honus?)

Are there really that many people who could read a description, look at a picture, and still mistake a card of a player holding his bat on his shoulder for the one of the most famous cards in history that is a portrait? And do they really think they can pick up a "Wagner" for less than $30 on eBay?

As Arsenio used to say "Things that make you go 'hummmmmm""

Posted By: Ed McCollum
I'm kidding too, but after all the cards you bought over the last two months, and Hienie being abandoned after his auction, thought I'd just throw him in so he would still have some company.

__________________________

Robert (and all), I haven't given up on t206s, just the idea of collecting the whole set. Just became unrealistic.

So I saved one of each back, cards given as anniversary gifts, Father's Day gifts, etc., and at the time the four cards I had with Howe McCormick's backstamp. Sold the rest to fund the Howe McCormick Recovery Set, as those are the only cards I'm going to buy and save ... those once owned by him. Since May, the number I own has grown to 16, and there are five others I know of that haven't been offered for sale. If anyone on the board has any cards with his stamp on the back they would be interested in selling, please let me know. I do have some money in PayPal to fund the endeavor. (even if you are not looking to sell, I'd like to see what is out there, back type, condition, etc.)

Thanks to everyone who bid on the auctions. My wife thinks I'm crazy, after collecting all these for almost 20 years, but this has put a spark back in to looking at all cards available on eBay and elsewehre, but only wanting to buy a small portion of what I see.
