Posted By: <b>David Smith</b><p>Some other points of interest:<br /><br />Baltimore led the game 3 - 0 at one point and then were outscored 30 - 0.<br /><br />The Rangers scored 16 Runs in the last two Innings.<br /><br />The eight and nine hitters for the Rangers BOTH had seven RBI's each.<br /><br />The Rangers hit two Grand Slams.<br /><br />Baltimore used only four Pitchers and each one gave up six or more Runs.<br /><br />This was the first game of a Double Header.<br /><br />Texas needs to score 13 Runs in the second game to tie the record for most Runs scored by one team in a Double Header.<br /><br />David

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>Never thought I'd see a game like this. 30 runs seemed unreachable. And among the bizarre things is after 5 innings the score was 5-3. The Rangers scored 25 runs in the last four innings! One of the all-time great box scores.

No other team in major league history has ever trailed by that many runs at any point of any game. And of course the final score was the largest margin of victory ever.<br /><br />Texas was shut out in five innings, and they scored all their runs in just four frames. That means they scored 30 runs using only 12 of their outs. That is extraordinary!!<br /><br />Is there a link somewhere to watch this game?

Posted By: <b>James Feagin</b><p>As an Orioles fan, all I can say is ouch. Before yesterday the last time a team allowed 25+ runs in a game? You guessed it, the 1996 Baltimore Orioles lost 26-7 to...the Texas Rangers. My Orioles hold virtually all of the horrible team records.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>Ken- I should have qualified my statement with since 1900 (modern era).<br /><br />19th century scoring was different than today. This was the ninth recorded 30 run game, and all the other eight were in the 19th century.

These are games that probably will never occur again. In 1981, Rochester and Pawtucket played 33 innings, and that one is equal to the other two in terms of rarity, but it was the minor leagues.<br /><br />
