Posted By: <b>Bob</b><p>I've found that the after hours discussions with other collectors at the bar ccan prove not only informative but also very entertaining. If you go to the show in Chicago next year, try to stay at the hotel where most of the 54ers are staying and wander down to the bar at night. You learn a lot more than you would think about cards, from pricing to information about the cards themselves and the hobby in general. For you lurkers out there, don't feel shy about introducing yourselves and joining in. The comeraderie is great and the discussions lively and fun.

Let's see I learned that I can handle listening to Bob tell the same Larsen bar fight 9 times in a row with out flinching (LOL.....aaah, he was so pumped!), that I will never be able to spend $960,000 on everything in my life time let alone on cardboard, and that the 5% of the time that I'm not following Bryan around everything cool happens. Sorry, Bryan, but it appears that I will be following you around every second next year! <br><br>Jimi

Posted By: <b>Ted Zanidakis</b><p>I left the Show Friday afternoon, after having my best National, and who do I run into at the Cleveland Airport....but, Don Larsen.<br /> I recognized him instantly, as I had met him at Cooperstown last Summer. We had a real nice conversation and reminisced about<br /> BB in New York back in the '50s.<br /><br />I was fortunate to see him pitch his perfect game on the TV as a kid....so, running into him was a great ending to a great week. <br /><br />TED Z

Out of pure respect for the man, it would be very tacky to ask for an autograph from him. I did like his story about Gigging frogs in California and shaking his hand was good enough for me. Was fun to meet a legend. My second so far this year. The first of the year was meeting Ernie Banks and all the old Cubbies along with Eddie Vedder. <br /><br />Ken

Posted By: <b>Bill Cornell</b><p>Sorry, but it wasn't fight, or anything close. Bob momentarily took the seat of some grouchy guy who wanted his seat and his beer back. Poor Bob only wanted to see the Twins commit 2 errors in the same inning, which I got to see. The guy came back and started barking about Don Larsen's friend who had just told him to go away...<br /><br />Mike Peich got some nice photos of Don - maybe we'll see a few here. Personally, I couldn't overcome my Red Sox bias when seeing Larsen (who was very pleasant, btw). If Mantle, Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Gehrig, Yogi, Whitey Ford all walked into a bar I was sitting in, I'd have had the same bland reaction. Being a Yankees fan is like rooting for Exxon.<br /><br /><br />Bill

Posted By: <b>Bob</b><p>No fisticuffs, just lots of loud, foul language (none by Larsen) and threats of violence between the drunk and the guy he despised, who was Larsen's buddy. Like I said, it could have gotten ugly. Actually a woman came in the bar and the drunk spent the rest of the night trying to pick her up and take her to his room, and this more than anything defused the situation.<br />Bill's right, I wanted to defuse things and also watch the hapless Twins play.

We ran<br /> into him at the (one and only) bar in town Saturday evening. He was surrounded by a crowd, including some fine looking gals.<br /><br />And, before we knew it a "near brawl" broke out between two dudes that had one drink too many.....arguing over BB back in the NY<br /> scene in the '50s.<br /><br />TED Z
