Posted By: leon
I want to do a quick thread to give everyone an update on what is going on with the Dinner on Thursday night, 8-2-07. As we all know it is at the Airport Sheraton across from the Convention Center. We will have a 2400 square foot room to ourselves. We will have our own bar and bartender and some hotel folks that are helping with the get together. Drinks start at 6pm. There will be finger foods and snack mix served from 6pm on..AT ABOUT 6:30-7:00 WE WILL BE SEATED AND THERE WILL BE A FEW GUEST SPEAKERS..Nothing earth shaking but should be interesting..... There will be a fajita bar, with chicken (not rooster ) and beef, hard and soft shells, refried beans, Mexican rice, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese and lettuce and black olives, which will start at 7pm. We will have about 11 round tables that seat 10 ea....there are 106 RSVP's for dinner and about 10 folks coming after dinner for cocktails. There will be a sign-in sheet when you enter the room and you need to sign in and get a name tag. Most likely I will have a few markers so you will need to fill out the name tags yourself. Please put your first and last name. NO lurking or anonymity will be allowed so if you don't want to be known please don't come to it. I will have drink tickets for everyone. In order to get tickets you will need to be wearing your name tag and have signed in. It will also be a cash bar all night for those of you that piss me off (just kidding). ..but it really is a cash bar too. I think the 500 drink tickets I pass out should hold us very well but we could run out very late and then it will be a cash bar. Last year there were about 58 folks so that is what was really budgeted for. I had 250 drink tickets last year and had about 30 left over at the end...so I think we are good.....We have the room from 6pm-12am....It will be very informal and I am sure I will have my normal attire on....T-shirt, shorts, and will be unshaven....however, I will have taken a shower within the last 3 days so shouldn't smell too bad......I look forward to meeting all of the new folks and chatting with ones I have known....My cell # is 214-282-4943 and I will have it on the whole way through the National..Most of the dinner is really just hanging out and socializing...I want to stress the "ad lib" nature and informality of it..It's a vacation and I don't care for too much structure.........best regards

Posted By: leon
I gave the final count to the Hotel yesterday...Anymore rsvp's will have to be on a case by case basis.....it's not automatic anymore....sorry, there was plenty of time to rsvp in the open "enrollment".....email me privately if there are extenuating circumstances.....I look forward to seeing everyone there.....regards....

Posted By: Mark Evans
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the dinner. I suffered a recurrence of an old back injury that, while not serious, prevents my traveling to the show. Bad timing. Hope a good time is had by all and that I can join next year. Mark
