Posted By: Aaron Cowan
I recently purchased two snapshots obtained through eBay which someone bought at an estate sale. The pictures are of players in a rare St Louis Cardinals uniform. The Cardinals wore this uniform following there 1926 WS win and the uniform says "Worlds Champions" and has the singular bird on the bat. I've determined through high-res scans that there is an "s" at the end of "World" on the jersey. What I haven't been able to do is pinpoint who is pictured. (I'm sorry for the small picture but I will also be posting one at my photobucket site.) I believe that Jim Bottomley is pictured on the far left. If anyone can held shed light on who else might be picture this would be greatly appreciated!! I have searched all the names of 1926/27 rosters and looking at pictures I have and cannot find anyone resembling the other two players. I could be completely wrong about Bottomley too! Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Editted: I meant to post this on the memorabilia forum...oops

Aaron Cowan
<a href="http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q102/acowan19/</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q102/acowan19/</a>
acowan19@gmail.com

Posted By: Randy Trierweiler
Hi Aaron, I'm not sure if the player on the left is Bottomley or not. I think the player in the middle favors MVP Bob O'Farrell.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I too got some of these photos - I now see who I was outbid by on the others I haven't received mine yet. The player in the center of your photo is apparently where these photos came from because I got 4 pictures of him in his minor league uniform and another two pics of him in his St Louis uniform. I got 4 pics of kids wearing that World's Champions uniform. I'll post them here when I get them.

edited to add: Whoever the guy in the middle is it's not O'Farrell because this guy batted and threw left handed. I also do not believe the guy on the left is Bottomley.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Aaron, what day did you receive your photos from this seller? I paid with paypal immediately and still haven't gotten mine yet...He also will not answer my emails and now I see he has gotten a negative feedback for nondelivery of an item.

Posted By: Aaron Cowan
I received the photos this past Monday. It seemed a couple days longer than usual, considering I paid with paypal, but everything was fine upon arrival.

Also, keep my informed on any luck you might have in ID'ing any of the players you ahve wearing the Worlds Champions jersey.

Aaron Cowan
http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q102/acowan19/
acowan19@gmail.com

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Got them today. Still not sure who it is in these photos, but judging by the pics we know that he was lefthanded, played for the 1927 Cardinals and was possibly a first baseman.

Could be Ernie Orsatti?

Yes, I know the negative was reversed.

here he is wearing what looks to be a first baseman's mitt

Posted By: sean
damn Im really puzzled. I can not find a 27 cardinals photo ANYWHERE. The closest to any resemblance I got was jimmy ring to the guy in the middle. Literally no one on the 26 cardinals looks anything like the others

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Jimmy Ring is right handed and this guy in the photos is obviously left handed. I don't know what Orasatti looks like I was just going by the 1927 St Louis roster to see who batted and threw left handed and Orsatti was the only non pitcher besides Jim Bottomley and we know it's not him.

judging by Orsatti's 1933 Goudey I think it might be him...there is some resemblence there.

http://tinyurl.com/2224n5

Posted By: Dan Bretta
The only other player that it could be going by resemblance that both hit and threw lefty was Eddie Dyer who was a pitcher

Posted By: sean
it is true Ring is right handed but it looks like some of thhe photos are reversed. Look at the close up shot. The cardinals emblem on his chest is backwards.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
The photos where he is wearing the "Bob Whites" uniform are not reversed and he has the glove on his right hand and he is shown batting left handed.

Posted By: sean
is that the same guy in the bob white uniform? at any rate, left or right handed, Jimmy Ring is the only one I can find that has even a remote resemblance to anyone of these players. Its possible it could be players that didn't make the cut? Maybe even people wearing cardinals uniforms? Id be curious to find out if the cardinals and washington did spring training in the same location. If they did not, this could be random people wearing uniforms.
