Posted By: leon
Okee dokee....It's that time again to start getting excited about the upcoming National in Cleveland. This will be the 5th year there has been a Net54 Dinner at the National. The first few years it was a bunch of us getting together and taking a last minute consensus on where to go to have dinner and shoot the breeze. It has gotten bigger and better each year and this year should be no different. It will be held on the Thursday of the National, 08/02/07, at the Airport Sheraton Hotel. It will start at about 6pm....and end when we get kicked out of our reserved room (somewhere around 11pm-12am)... Ending time depends on how long we can coerce the wait staff to let us hoot and holler. It will be very informal, catered with beef and chicken fajita bar and this time there will be side dishes...what a concept !! There will be an attended, open bar too.....with soft drinks and bottled water for those so inclined. Significant others and children are welcome but there will be much alcohol served so please keep that in mind. It has always been ok, as far at that goes, and there has never been an issue. Please RSVP in this thread as to how many will be coming, yourself included, as that will tell me how many to tell the catering folks to cook for. One way or another it will be 100% sponsored so the cost will be zilch....If you are a lurker, or a more private person, you can email me privately to RSVP. This year I am going to try to have little hand written name tags for everyone. I will hand them out at the dinner and will appreciate it if everyone will wear one. That way I don't have to guess at your name even after you have told me 3 times. Until a year or two ago I was still introducing myself to Scott Brockelman and had already been setting up with him at the National for a few years. It will be a little sticky name tag so I hope no one will freak out about them. If you come to the dinner you won't be able to remain anonymous ......So without further ado please RSVP .....I greatly look forward to meeting those I have never met and mingling with others I already know....I am sure it will be a blast...
Posted By: Joann
Put me down as a strong maybe.

Just the kind of definitive response you were looking for, eh Leon? I've had my reservations in place for a few months and have been planning on it. But now I want to get new roof, gutters and windows and am trying to decide if I can take all of that out of cash flow for the next 4 months. Plus some travel both weeks before National, so I'm not sure I should be out of the office that much in three consecutive weeks.

I guess I'll plan on it, and if I change my mind it will not be on the last day. Right now I'm thinking I'll split the difference and cancel the hotel for Friday night but stay Thursday night. So put me down for 1.

I think it'd be a blast to meet everyone. That's my biggest motivation - with the home repairs upcoming, I certainly don't think I'll be there to drop big bucks on cards!

Joann

Posted By: leon
So far with the private email invites we are at 44....I think we are headed for a record number, which would be great. The record is about 58.........Also, there are always a few that can't make it and a few last minute invites, which are fine too...The main reason for the RSVP, as I said before, is because I need to tell the Sheraton the head count for dinner. We will have our own private room and I am sure it will be big enough to hold as many as we have....take care and thanks to all who have RSVP'd so far

Posted By: leon
Suspense it is...not strippers, not anything like that...also, I think we are about up to 90 RSVPS.....that is almost 10% of who reads the board. I think that is pretty friggin' (@ TBOB) awesome.....I just now got off of the phone with the Sheraton and we have moved from a 1700 square foot room to 2400. Private of course.......and I just ordered 200 more drink tickets.....we gonna have some fun.....can't wait....

Posted By: leon
Hey Dave,
Thanks for letting me know...This Wed I am giving the final number and every bit of info helps. I will be at Scott Brockelman's table with he and Richard Masson. All you need to do is ask any vintage card person/dealer and they should know where we are (I forget the table #, off hand). Or you can ask someone where the Net54 guys are hanging out as we usually have about 10-15 folks hanging around chatting.... I look forward to meeting you....I will be there for 5 days so should be able to meet everyone that wants to be met.....take care...
