Posted By: leon
Hey Folks
I am going through the threads and deleting and editing anonymous posts. If you don't like it I don't care. Leave. I am going to have a little more strict policy going forward. If I ask you to email me contact info as I want to talk to you it's not an option. Say what you want to but put your name by it. Personal attacks need to cease also. Lets get back to the focus of this board. I love my job... thanks...moderator dude...

Posted By: Anonymous
how do you make yourself not anonymous? When I put in a name under 'your name', it doesn't seem to show up? Can you just use initials rather than full first and last name on posts?

Posted By: Rob
Hi Leon,
So what would stop someone from putting "joe schmoe" in the "Your Name" box? Why does it matter what they put there? My real name could be Andy or Buford or something, not Rob. But I put "Rob" in my name box. No matter what I put, everyone can see my login "tiger8mush" and just call me that, which is fine w/me.

I'm not trying to cause trouble, I'm just trying to see how people are posting as anyonymous when really we can all see their login (i.e. tiger8mush) and know who they are, even though they are not putting their name in it.

Thanks Leon,
Rob

Posted By: john dean
I was away from the pc leon (lunch w/a friend), so don’t know if you deleted my posts. If so, life will go on w/o hard feelings (I'm just here to talk about the hobby). I just personally do not like to put my entire first last name out on the net. Not b/c I am trying to hide anything (it’s pretty easy to find me on ebay, beckett, cu, here, and just about everywhere else cards are discussed), but rather I just don’t like putting overly personal info on the ‘net. if you want confirmation by email, feel free. In the meantime, I will try and put a name into my profile..i have tried before but it has not worked.

thanks for the tips mark- will try it again.

Posted By: Anonymous
No problems @ all leon. I am just more low key/private than others…w/ identity theft (and some REALLY weird/threatening encounters on other boards), I try to maintain my anonymity. Like I said, it wasn’t my intent to hide anything. I just changed the profile like mark said, so hopefully that meets board rules.

Posted By: JimCrandell
"Personal attacks need to cease also".

Thanks Leon--the personal attacks by certain people on this board are unbelievable. People can disagree--they can even be critical but I am sure that at least 98% of this board would agree that the personal attacks should stop.

Posted By: John
Thanks zinn. I’d think there would be a way for the ‘name’ to be permanently linked to the acct, but it’s been awhile since I have actively/heavily navigated net 54 boards. I usually lurk on this forum anyway, so will type my name in every time I post. Don’t think my posts are all that riveting/controversial, but I understand leon’s view.

that's weird. for whatever reason, now my name shows up in the 'your name' field w/o me typing it...maybe my fingers will get to save a few keytaps haha

Posted By: boxingcardman
This was a purely personal attack against me on your part:

"Dear Mr. Boxing Egomaniac,

If you could put your massive ego aside for a minute and see the facts, I was commenting on the ability of longtime ungraded card hobbyists ability to spot altered cards.

The best of the card doctors skills has evolved to the point where only those extremely familiar in alterations and what is being done can detect them. Ungraded card hobbyists in general do not meet this criteria.

You sound like a very bitter guy--collect graded cards--join the future of the hobby--you may find it will help your sense of well being."

A personal attack seeks to demean the person rather than address their views. Calling me an egomaniac and bitter is not criticizing my opinions. And my name is Adam.

If you are serious about stopping the personal stuff that would be welcome and would be reciprocated. I leave it to you to abide by your own stated preference.

Posted By: JimCrandell
That was in response to your attack on me--I never initiate an attack--I honestly don't care what you think and my world would be find if you just ignored me for the rest of your life. I usually answer an attack however. So my advice is that whenever you get the urge to attack me just stop and write about whatever it is you write about.

I do sometimes forget to put in "Your Name" and it shows up "Anonymous" in the thread - especially when I am in a hurry to attack someone or don't want anyone to know it's me .
Seriously, I've been doing it this way since the old fullcount board days...hate to change it now and am pretty sure most know who I am, but just lmk if it needs changing.
Thanks,
Bob C

Posted By: Mark T
as my browser, they have a way you can save your typed inputs in boxes. I never have to type my name in, it remembers it all the time.

For Avatars: you have to go to the main Network54 web page and its in your edit account, personal photo. Click on that.

Posted By: JK
Leon,

Your very first post in this thread, you state:

"Personal attacks need to cease."

Then I read in your last post of the Mastro FBI thread this comment:

"I take the headaches from morons like Jay Behrens and Scott Elkins and Jim Crandall so I get to have the last word."

You and I have always gotten along pretty well, so I hope you understand that this criticism not intended as an attack, but I think I would be remiss if I did not point out that leading should be done by example. I know that Jay, Jim and others have said a lot of uncomplimentary things and I dont agree with much of what Jay wrote concerning your defense of mastro (I feel there was nothing wrong with your defense of Mastro - similarly, I feel there was nothing wrong with Jeff and others expressing concern over an apparent investigation), nevertheless, if you want personal attacks to stop, then I feel you need to take the higher road - comments like those above should also cease. Sorry, just my opinion.

Posted By: leon
Point well taken. I have edited my comments in that post. Please understand I am human and can only take so much abuse before I retaliate. I know I am the moderator/owner so should be above it all but it's very difficult sometimes. If someone kept hitting you eventually you would hit them back. But nevertheless point well taken. Also, I do agree the discussion about the investigation was fine....although it really was never anything more than a year old story reprinted....As a lawyer I would think you would agree that if there were evidence of wrongdoing it probably would have come to light in a year.....Not positively, but probably...Afterall this isn't the CIA or some international espionage. It is on our home turf where all legal avenues can work....
