1897 Reccius Team Photo

Photo was taken in 1897; mine was a print made in 1941. Honus isn't pictured, but could be food for thought for more knowledgable people on this board.<br /><br /><img src=http://www.scauctions.org/rec-1.jpg>

Henry Reccius (the ciagr maker) had two<br />older brothers (Phil and John) who played professional ball in Lousiville in the early 1890's:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?search=reccius" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?search=reccius</a><br /><br />Given the date of this photo (1897), they must<br />have gone on to form a semi-pro team and then<br />perhaps their brother used the team to advertise<br />his cigar-making company??

Posted By: <b>Hal Lewis</b><p>I can't make out the names at the bottom...<br /><br />but it almost looks like the guy in the suit<br />is listed as "H. Reccius."<br /><br />If so, then Henry was definitely using<br />this team to help advertise his business.
