Posted By: Hal Lewis
I just got my copy of "The Card" and was flipping through
it when I noticed "Net54" mentioned on page 194.

So I looked to see what it said, and it said:

Some Network54 members were stunned and demanded to know more.
"It's not every day that the author of 'THE MONSTER' graces
us with his presence!!!" one wrote. "BILL: Please share
with us the pedigree of the card!!! PLEASE."

I thought to myself that this looked like something
I would have written. Sure enough:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/153652/message/1131725969/

The damned author didn't even have the courtesy to mention
my name!

Just think -- I was THIS CLOSE to having my name appear
in print in what is roundly being panned as the WORST book
ever written!!

Posted By: Ed
Authors should always properly attribute quotes. Nobody wants to feel like a "generic N54".

Is this book reaching much demographic circulation? If so, there are a number of you who should be writing books of your own. Once I pass newbie status, having absorbed abundant vintage information (and Seinfeld trivia, which I like), I know I will be putting pen to paper, even if I have to self-publish.

Posted By: Russ Bright
Actually, the Horse book has so many grammatical problems it would HURT more prospective authors and drug users than help them. It's scary how poorly the book was written - from a literary point of view, it should have never been published.

While the book, "The Card" may ruffle some collector's feathers, I don't see why it would be held in such low esteem from readers. I CAN understand how it would be frowned upon by collectors (who agree/disagree/were misquoted) investors (who bought/sold/trimmed/pressed/scammed, "the card") and Cardboard purists.

From a purely entertainment POV (Point of View), is it worth the read? Will it enlighten me more than the past year reading posts on this Board? I doubt it.

It amazes me what little comments/things can act as catalysts on this board. I still want a copy to read, but have no desire to PAY for one, i might pick up a copy secondhand. or on the discount rack from barnes and noble next year. I'm just looking forward to the New Harry Potter book - life is too short to waste it reading things that will give me ulcers when discussing them with fellow cardboard enthusiasts.

hope someone enjoyed the horse book - it's an amazing read, and Hal again, congrats on being Quoted in the book, it's always nice to hold a piece of History in your hands that YOU are a part of!
