Posted By: Bob
The red Cobb reminds me of when someone in the 20's called out in the stands, "Is there anyone here who DOESN'T have Babe Ruth's autograph?" The Babe was such a prolific autographer.

Posted By: JimB
Although I actually like the bat off pose a little better, there is a real classic, almost archetypal quality to the red portrait Cobb.
Maybe I feel this way because it was one of the first two T206s I ever got back in 1979 or 80. In fact, it was the first T206 I ever saw in person. I had to have it and traded half my collection away to get it.
JimB

Posted By: peter chao
I don't have a single vintage Cobb in my collection. Currently, I'm looking at a Cobb with bat off-shoulder. Also, I know where I can find an orange portrait Cobb. Is the orange portrait a variation or an error card, or is it just faded. LOL.

Peter

Posted By: Pennsylvania Ted
I had 2 Orange background Cobb's. A real nice one (Ex) and the one shown here.

Like JimB said he did in another thread....I too, sold the nice one. For the right customer
you can expect at least 50% more than the Red Cobb (for equal condition cards).

These Orange Cobb's are the result of the printers not applylng the final "reddish" tint
to the normally Red Cobb.

This one is about as orange as you'll find one....and, it has the look of a "snow scene".....
no extra premium for the snow.

It was posted to this board a couple of years ago; maybe latecomers might like to see it. I think it is an absolutely cool image. I don't remember who the original poster was so I don't know if he is still active on the board. If you're still out there come forward and take a bow.
