Posted By: barrysloate
I just clicked on "vintage links" and couldn't access the auction sites. Likewise, the collector section stopped at the letter "D" Is it my computer or is there are problem?

Posted By: Marty Ogelvie

Barry,
I got the same response but I noticed that the links were only bookmarks. By clicking them, you are taken to a different spot on the page vs being taken to an entirely different page. Regardless, the book marks do not seem to be working..

Scrolling down the page should reveal the listings noted but the page does not appear to be loading completely...

The good news is, I don't think its your PC..

martyOgelvie
nyyankeecards.com

Posted By: barrysloate
Maybe Brian can take a look at it today. With the two big auctions closing in the next three days, the links are helpful.

Also, the collector's section is truncated and stops alphabetically at Steve Dawson.

Posted By: leon
It looks as though the missing data is lost. If anyone has a screen shot or file of what was there it would be a big help to Brian and I. Most likely we will need to start from scratch with what is already there and move forward. I am going to work with Brian on a data backup plan too. I know we just did a members update but we really haven't done one in the other areas and I know a lot of it was outdated. Not the end of the world but also no fun.....Sorry for the inconvenience. Poop happens.....

Posted By: T206Collector
...it's an excuse to update links and auction dates. No more "Beckett Vintage Auction. Starts January 14, 1999." Okay, so it wasn't that bad, but you get my drift....

Posted By: leon
I hear ya.....It does look like there could be a glimmer of hope. I just went to the Premier Support forum and it looks like Net54 admin recovered data for a guy yesterday. If we do get it back I promise we will work on updating it in the next few days. Brian and I have no idea how it happened....It was all set last night and then this morning nadda....I try to stay away from the techy stuff for the most part...unless it's a small emergency like I did for Jason yesterday.....Maybe this can be a new thread if we don't get the data back....and everyone can contribute to what they think should be there. It was pretty good as it was except for the needed updates, imo...

Posted By: leon
For whatever reason the data is gone. Net54 admin can't see it either. We figured that was the case given what can and can't be seen...and relative to other issues we have had. Bill Cornell sent us a lot of the info back yesterday (Thanks again BILL !!) .....Brian is tied up for about a week or so on some other stuff so it could be about a week before it gets back up. We will probably ask for personal info again from each person that wants to be on there. We apologize for the inconvenience. Still no idea how this happened.....I will post a new thread to get the personal info of those that want to be there in the coming week.......regards

Posted By: leon
Brian (Hi Brian) has got most of the links back except the personal ones. I have him doing a project right now (called backing up the whole site) and this will take him another week or so..Please remember that for neither of us is this our full time job......In a week or two I will post a thread and get any personal sites, contact info, ebay/Net54 handles, etc again....from ya'll and we will get them put up again. We will be going through to clean up the other links too...I know they are far from perfect. Please don't send emails to he or I right now unless they are of some emergency nature, concerning the links. I feel backing up the whole site is the most important thing at the moment....and I am not sure how much of the history he will be able to back up but God forbid something totally crater we can at least get the site back up and running....Without a backup it would be horrible if we crash....thanks to all for your patience....We still don't have a clue what happened to the links and why they disappeared....regards

Posted By: Mike
Remember you always have the wayback machine... basically an exact copy of pages that are all text like this:

Feb 2006:
http://web.archive.org/web/20060217211202/http://www.network54.com/Index/36815

It doesn't always do a great job with saving images from old sites, but it grabs text based sites really well.

Posted By: Brian McQueen

Wow...that pretty much allowed me to fix the entire thing in a minute! Mike - terrific find! Thanks for sharing that link before I had to rebuild the entire thing.

If anyone had your name or other information entered on this page after February, let me know as it wouldn't be included. Otherwise, this page is completely fixed again.

Whew...I can cross that one off the list now.

Brian
