Posted By: leon
Not too many times (none that I can recall) have I had to do something like this. We seem to be having another issue with Jorge Pelayo. Jorge (hello Jorge) seems to be doing more deals, from at least our BST pages, while not quite having all of the resources to pay for them or previous ones. We (Brian M. and I) are aware of more than 1 situation that wasn't quite right in the last 24 hours. At this time we are asking Jorge to refrain from posting on the BST pages or responding to any ads on them for the next 2 months. I am strongly suggesting that folks take this as a warning too. This is something we feel does need to be made public especially given the history here. It's not an indictment on him in any way except not being able to complete some deals in a timely fashion. I don't know of anything else. For the record I didn't get personal emails asking me to do this. Brian M, and I, feel it's our obligation to the board to do it. We would have emailed him privately but this really isn't a private matter when it could concern other board members too. Mr.Pelayo has always seemed honest and sincere in every way....except for this issue of doing too much too soon. I believe he even addressed it last time honestly and openly. That does speak volumes to his character, imho. We sincerely hope everything works out for the best and are saddened it had to come to this.... best regards

Posted By: Mark T
He is a very nice guy with a great collection. From what i know, he is waiting on some money (refund). I trust Jorge and if he says he wants the cards then i am sure when the funds come in he will pay. He wants a few of my cards and i have told him i will hold them until he has the $. If it takes too long then i will just email him asking again if he still wants them.

Another suggestion in the B/S/T would be an immediate payment required. That way the buyer knows the seller wants to be paid fast.

If Jorge commits to buy a card and does not pay in a timely manner then thats different. Communication is key. Jorge has always answered my Emails.

Posted By: Bob C
I have done a few BST deals with Jorge and he also won one of my eBay auctions. He has always paid very slowly, but he always paid and responded to all emails. IMHO communication is the key. I was willing to wait for payment, sometime as long as several months, because of this. I realize not all are similarly patient (or are able to be patient), but when I saw this I felt the need to share my experiences with him.
Lastly, I believe he is a working single parent with limited discretionary funds at least for his collecting proclivities. I realize that is not a valid excuse, but having been recently taken advantage of for a small amount of money by a very wealthy board member (see Everything Else in BST), I feel character matters and Jorge has it.

Posted By: Dave F
I'm by no means judging. Merely asking a question here. Would it not have been more appropriate to have just dealt with Jorge on this matter? As in telling him for the time being he shouldn't be active with the B/S/T for a period of time? Do you as a moderator have the ability to block users from certain areas of the site?

Just curious...I hate to see anyone's name brought up like this...but if you had no other way to deal with it, so be it.

Posted By: leon
Yes, our preference would have been to deal with this off the board...however, it was done on the board and how would we know everyone involved? I am not saying this is the case but how many times has something been brought up on the board and then several others chime in about the same thing happening to them? We would have never reached everyone privately. We did not feel it would be fair to let it go and have others be affected (potentially) by not knowing. The fact Jorge seems to be a good guy is the reason I posted rather delicately about the matter. No one is saying anyone is a bad guy here, only that a few indiscretions have been made.. He is not even banned from the board only from the BST for a while until things smooth out........regards

Posted By: Bob C
Leon my post was only to point out my dealings with Jorge and say I felt he is a stand up guy, at least as far as I am concerned. Did not mean to impugn your decision. I think you are doing the right thing, giving him a cooling off period to sort things out.
For the record I am not kissing your butt here and why are you posting in the third person?
Posted By: leon
We is not me, myself and I, as some others might be.....when I refer to "we" you need to reference my first post...Brian McQueen and I = we, being that we are the main moderators that run the board...This was not my lone decision.......regards

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter
My dealings Jorge Pelayo is one of several reasons why I don't buy/trade/sell or post here anymore as of about a month or so ago. The only reason I'm posting now is because I have had many issues with him and feel I have a right to post my opinion.

I've had a few dealings with Jorge in the past with multiple problems. I've had to go to ridiculous lengths to communicate with him about paying for cards. The first time (after a month of waiting) I tried to contact him repeatedly by email to no avail, regarding some Obaks he had purchased. I finally had to post on the board about the situation and he did respond with several excuses (His eyes being bigger then his wallet, was NOT one of the excuses he gave me privately, but did give to the board).

He burned me again with the same M.O. a couple of months ago. I complained to Leon about it and a week or so later Jorge finally replied with several excuses (work, blah, blah, blah). I told him at that time that I could no longer do business with him. The communication was poor, the wait time was too long, and frankly I didn't find him to be honest, at least with me.

While I hate to see anyone get banned and I'm all for getting along with everyone, Jorge has had issues with several board members and I think this was going on far longer then it should have. I'm not perfect, but I think most on the board would agree that I try to be a nice guy and I'm always willing to work things out if an issue pops up.

I think the punishment in this case is more than fair.

Posted By: peter chao
I know where your coming from...you want to protect other Net54 members. But it's a good idea to ask whether the extra attention is kind. How do you know if somebody hasn't paid because they've been blowing the money at the racetrack or whether there has been a medical emergency. Always ask yourself if the post is kind if it isn't think twice and then forget about it...

Peter

Posted By: leon
My guess is if you were waiting for money from this buyer for months, and knew many others were too, you might change your tune. If not please shoot me an email and I will give you my address to send me some money....
