Posted By: <b>Brian</b><p>Steve,<br /><br />I think SGC has earned, and rightfully so, equity with vintage collectors through their commitment to customer service and the consistency of their grading.<br /><br />So, when they do make a mistake, it isn't treated in the same manner publicly as when another company might screw up. (see Leon's response, which I agree with)<br /><br />Had this been another company’s gaff, there would be more responses and they would be more critical in nature. I didn't know what else to call it, so I used the term equity.<br /><br /><br />Peter,<br /><br />To the best of my memory, SGC started using Stamped Back on Obaks with factory marks in very late 2005, early 2006. The first card I saw with this was in a November 2005 Mastro lot.<br /><br />I think its the appropriate decision for Obaks, although it does create inconsistencies as Obaks graded over 18 months don't have the notation. To me, it removes the only advantage PSA had in grading Obaks.<br /><br />Brian<br /><br /><br />edit for typo...<br />

Posted By: <b>Mark T</b><p>slabed my E107 as Ira Thomas instead of Roy Thomas. The person who sent it in probably wrote the wrong name on the form and i don't think SGC checks every single card to be graded. <br /><br />They will fix it for free, you just need to pay for shipping.

No question about it.<br /><br />If my <img src="/images/sad.gif" height=14 width=14> was perceived to be a slam against the company I certainly stand corrected as that was not what was intended.<br /><br />SGC will correct the "oversight", for sure.<br /><br />(I wish I could turn this into a PSA bashing thread but I know that is not what you intended. <img src="/images/wink.gif" height=14 width=14>)<br /><br />

Posted By: <b>Fred C</b><p>It would be nice if the grading companies educated themselves a little better and indicated the correct year on a few of the different sets. T206 and N172 are two issues that they use a generic year (1909 and 1887, respectively). Both of these are widely collected yet the years on all (or most that I've seen) are set to one specific year.

Posted By: <b>JK</b><p>Fred,<br /><br />I thought SGC put a year on t206s that they slab - though from Ted's post and others, I gather its not always the correct year. I think many times, they simply put whatever year the submitter puts on his/her submission form. I think you are correct that if the grading cos were a little more educated, they would catch those errors.
