Posted By: Anonymous
these sellers prey on the uninformed, and people out there who are looking to strike it rich. The guy who buys this card would be better served spending his money on lettery tickets.

strange the seller can't remember where he got the card from...I'm pretty sure I could at least remember what city I was in when buying something like that. I've seen Wagners like this before at Ceasars creek flea market. they are reprints that have been dipped in urethane protective coating.....but only after they have been rubbed with dirt, or chewing tobacco, and soaked in urine , coffee, tea or coke. No offense to any of you Pepsi drinkers out there...LOL
Posted By: david poses
maybe we should all stop being so upset with these people and start going to estate sales. so many people with no knowledge of baseball cards on ebay have awesome t206 cards they found at estate sales. if those guys can identify a wagner and plank and magie, surely any number of us can too. and it seems like nobody ever finds a beater clymer at an estate sale. all they have is wagner. amazing. may also be worth it to buy old hubcaps. never know when an unopened pack of sweet caps will be inside, with a crisp wagner, of course.

Posted By: leon
Is just around the corner from Lucas, TX...where I live. Maybe it got a cow paddy on it and it turned brittle. Lots of cows around here....and quite a few on my street. About a year ago I saw something next to my house....it was moving and big...and it was very dark out. It was a freakin' cow next to my driveway (we live a little bit in the country and off the street a ways)...I had to call the local sheriff to get the thing out of there....I think we found out it was my next door neighbors and he left the fence open.....such is baseball cards.....especially T206 Wagners. They certainly seem to be in abundant supplies from folks that have no idea .....

Posted By: Kenneth A. Cohen
for outing another in-progress auction. And I apologize to those you may be tiring of these all-to-common listings.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250105721195&rd=1&rd=1

However, I can't help but appreciate the inventive angle - a large box of vintage mistakenly in a bunch of 80/90s junk. And to top it off, no pix because of a broken scanner. Just for kicks, I inquired.

Me: Are these cards available for personal inspection? I have a friend who lives in your area. Thanks

Seller: no, i don't do that, sorry

Me: Yea I can understand why. It would make it tougher to lure some unsuspecting moron into your scam. Good luck, it only takes one I guess.

Seller: i may try to add scan later, but as to your comments, if the scanner was working, it takes 20 minutes or more for me to put that together for a bidder who may not win. i've had 3 requests so far. what's up your crawlers anyway? its being sold as a reprint.

Oh well, probably no sense in continuing the back and forth. I'll find some other source of pathetic amusement.

However, wouldn't it be fun to have a 1 to 10 rating system based on creativity for these BS scam stories? At least this waasn't the old estate sale angle. Must give credit where cdedit is due.

BTW - I reported both this and the Wagner auction to Ebay as an Authenticity Disclaimer violation and was ignored. Either Ebay is understaffed or their business ethics have sunk. Maybe if more folks reported such listings these scams would cease to pay off.

Ken

PS - I didn't know I had crawlers. Can someone tell me what they are?
