Posted By: Dave
then what would it be?? It maybe a set that you've never even owned a single card of before...I collect T206's. But I do think one day in the future I'd love to at least get a few T3's under my belt. I really think they are one of the nicest looking cards around.

Small consolation that Mendelsohn left out Tristam Speaker, but still, you're climbing onto a pretty damn impressive horse.

Posted By: Jason Carota
The Morhouse/Red Sox subset would definitely be a great challenge. It keeps calling to me more and more. So much so that I have considered what cards I would have to part with to begin the set.

The reason for the set (besides the fact that I am a Red Sox collector) is the location of the Morehouse Baking Company - Lawrence, MA. I grew up in Lowell, MA. The two were "sister cities" during the Industrial Revolution.

Posted By: Todd Schultz
I can't help much, as the closest Morehouse I own is a Boston National--some guy named Maranville, but I admire your choice. Should I ever run across the Red Sox with Morehouse on the back, I'll let you know. If you don't want them, I'll take them myself, altough I fear we won't be communicating on the subject very often. Here's to hoping I'm wrong about that.

Posted By: quan
i have always wanted to start the m101-5 set, don't really care about backs sporting news is fine. lots of dead ball era stars still there, jax, and the ruth rookie. some collectors are turned off by the b/w photos but i dig it. same goes for the various 1920s caramel issues.

Posted By: nbrazil
toss up between '15 CJs or T3's. I have a few cards of both right now, but it's a heavy load on my wallet to even get a common from either set. I'm going to have to abandon ship with one of these sets pretty soon since im ready to make what will likely be my last big purchase for awhile.

Posted By: MVSNYC
funny topic...it has been strictly T206 for me all along, and during the last few years i have TRIED to collect other sets, BUT they were never able to hold my interest, most recently T205 & T200...they are both good looking sets, but i keep coming back to T206, like an old girlfriend.

Posted By: Martin Neal
I already did. T205s. Great looking set and one that you might reasonably assume you could finish. Only 4 really tough cards and none of them will put you out as much as a Magie would.

Posted By: Jason Carota
You're probably right about the lack of communication between us concerning the subset. Thanks for keeping an eye out, anyway. If I decide to start the set, I will probably pick up Red Sox cards with any back, then sell or trade if a Morehouse back comes along.

Oh, and who is that Maranville guy?

Posted By: Scott
Jason,
I grew up in Chelmsford. I've started the Famous & Barr set and am having alot of fun with them. Good Luck. If you still live in the area e-mail me and we can discuss cards. Or even meet for lunch at the Dubliner or Santoro's. I haven't been there in many years.
Scott.

Posted By: T206Collector
...I've been down that road a bit. As I neared completion of my T206 set, I started accruing E95, M116 and even kept an eye on T3. I got more than half way done with E95, had some very nice M116's from the Nagy collection and a Bender T3.

But I sold them all to fund the upgrading of my T206 set. It seems that it still by far my biggest draw. I can't really spend money on other cards when I still have 30 or so beaters that are in dire need of an upgrade as well as far too many Southern Leaguers and HOFers below SGC 40. And once I get my average grade up to a 40, I am sure I'll just raise the bar to 50.

T206 is a lifelong pursuit for me. Everything else would just be a dalliance.

Posted By: Jason L
Well, after I am done with the T206 Cubs in 25 years, it is possible I will then embark upon the T205 and T200, with some thought given to the T202s and R311.

But 1981 Donruss is more likely
Posted By: E, Daniel
The thing I love most about being a type/player collector is that every card in my permanent collection is from a different set. 65 cards, 65 different issues. Every new card is a new set to be enjoyed. It really is an awesome way to collect

Daniel

Posted By: leon
I knew I liked you for some reason. If I ever collected another set, or way, it would be the same way I have up until now. Sets are great.....especially when it's a type set....though I would never be able to replace it again, for many reasons....

I am currently building a vintage golf collection - so I have to try to balance everything.

In short...
way too many "next" cards... not enough time or money
