Posted By: Dylan
Just turned 24 exactly one month ago(Feb.21). I have been a college student off and on, and next quarter, or at the latest winter, will resume studies again. I have been wanting to complete A BA in business admin., but recently have been giving some thought to lawyering too. I've been working as a server at a well known restaurant for a little over a month, but over the last couple years mostly as a table games dealer at casinos. I also am a serious athelete, and have competeted and won, both a bodybuilding show and a powerlifting meet. I love the individualism of the sports, challenging yourself on a daily basis to improve yourself. I've wanted to play college baseball for the last few years, many of my high school teamates play(ed) on local college teams, but unfortunatly the time you have to commit to the team would mean i wouldn't be able to work and thats not feasable. I love playing ball and always could hit for power, and id love to see what i could bring to the plate since putting on 25 to 30 solid pounds of muscle since high school, but i guess all i can do is imagine until i strike it rich

Posted By: Mike
Mike Campbell

just turned 53. Ouch..Live in the Minneapolis area, on a large lake. Beautiful view each day. Hate the jet skis and the snowmobiles however. Very happily married. Two great kids. Both out of college. Yeah. Daughter was two time all conference high school shortstop, and one time all state shortstop. All conference shortstop in College. Son is working at Medtronics. Wife is pre school teacher. I was in commercial banking for 23 years. Retired, and am now President of my own real estate investment company. I collect mainly Jimmie Foxx related items. But do dabble a bit in Ruth, gehrig, and Hack Wilson. Even a bit of black Sox. I received an e mail from a national deale rwho we all know, asking me if I would be interested in a particular Foxx piece. Unreal...after I receive it, I will scan it. Neither him nor I had ever seen one like it. Too cool to comprehend. Can't say right now. Not made of paper....!!!! My office walls are almost completely covered in Foxx things. I also have about 70 original newsphotos and wire photos of Ruth, Foxx, gehrig, Williams, etc. etc. Cool to frame.

Sick, I know.

I love the San Francisco Giants, think that Barry Bonds is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and strongly beleive that anyone who disagrees with the latter deserves to be dragged in the street and shot- yeah, that's right, I said it. Posted By: Joe Tocco
The probability of any two people having the same birthday in a random sample is significantly greater than the probabliity of someone in that sample having your exact birthday. Assuming an equal distribution and ignoring leap years, the chance of someone having your birthday is 1/365. The chance of 1 or more people having your birthday out of a sample of 120 is 1-(364/365)^120, or about 28%. The formula for figuring if any two people have the same birthday is significantly more complicated, but comes out to about 99.99999998% for 120 people, or 62.7% for your example of 25 people in a elevator. Sorry for the derail, I'm a probability freak

Joe

Posted By: Ken
My name is Ken. I am a 45 year-old chemist.

I've been lurking for about a month now, and this is my first post. My collecting interest is acquiring an example of every Hall-Of-Famer. Using my childhood cards as a base (Topps from 1950's - '70's), I began buying prewar cards about 3 years ago, mainly off of ebay. I have only two criteria:

1) That the card be contempory to the player's active era
2) That it be authentic!

I do not care about which type or set the card is from. Generally, if given the choice, I will opt for the type of which I have the least examples. The more eclectic, the better. I also am not concerned with the condition of a card, but instead seek bargin-basement prices! I know this may not be sound, investment-wise, but I really have no intention of ever reselling. I actually think that cards with some wear & tear are a bit more nostalgic and capture the history more for me. But that's just me.

My HOF set is currently about 90% completed, not counting the people who seem to be impossible (about half the Negro-leaguers and a handfull of pioneers/executives). Looking forward to conversing with others who are in the know about this stuff. I'm fairly new, but learning more and more, and loving every minute of it!
