I lost on the e101 Young in the Scott auction and some Mello's and Crofts in recent weeks/months.<br /><br />But on the other hand i won some nice lots of T206's for what i considered reasonable $'s.<br /><br />T3's seem out of control. As usual what i decide to chase seems to always be high. But i'm sure i'm not the only one who feels that way. <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>

Middle of the road quality gets average prices.<br /><br />And I still maintain it's just as much who is bidding as it is what you are selling. When I run an auction and see certain combinations of bidders on a piece, I can almost always expect it to go for a fantastic price.

If you can get Louchios, Spence and Ireland all trying to do a vintage set in psa 8 or better, hang onto your wallet and stand aside. While the overall trend in high end graded cards continues to be up it is best to try to complete a number of sets at one time so you can pick your spots.

I agree high end cards will bring fantastic prices but I have noticed a real upward surge in mid grade cards from either tough sets or sets in which 4s and 5s are about as highly graded as the prices go. There has been a real explosion in prices for certain caramel cards in SGC 60 (5) and SGC 50 (4), for example.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>Hi Bob- I think we do agree and I just didn't express myself clearly. By high quality I meant rare cards in great demand. I wasn't focussing solely on high grade. While Jim C. is a big believer in the future of PSA 8, and I don't disagree, I think a rare card in any condition will continue to increase in value, assuming nothing catastrophic occurs in the economy.
