Posted By: leon
I don't think so....I think The Babe's vices were alcohol, food, and women....not necessarily in that order....

edited grammar

Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)
Did you ever consider that maybe the Babe was rolling doob's and the reason he liked food so much was because he liked smoking his doob's (which, of course, leads to the dreaded munchies - at least that's what I've been told)?

Posted By: Anthony
Tampa (Ybor City, specifically) had a huge cigar industry about the time this would've been taken, and the Yankees had spring training in nearby St. Pete, if I recall correctly.
More likely it was shot there.
DredFred- Not always. I read in books that it effects differently people differently

Posted By: Paul
That was funny, but say it aint so. Maybe it was just the Babe's special diet that fueled his greatness. Well it couldn't be. I'm on nearly the same diet, & I can barely hit a softball.

Posted By: Mike
Underwood and Underwood had a half dozen or so (name) variations on their photos. The white inset shown on this photo was used greatly around the mid to late teens. They then went to paper labels or differing stampings. I have many Ruth news photos and wire photos. My wife even lets me hang several in our family room. Very cool picture leon....So I would date the photo about 1917 or 1918. Give or take a year.

Posted By: peter chao
Guys,

So the Babe looks like he's in a Cigar Factory, so I doubt that those are beer kegs in the background...darn, it would have been a nice party.

Peter

Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)
From the look of the picture the Babe looks to be pretty young. Unfortunately for the Babe, they didn't make the movie "Reefer Madness" until much later
