Posted By: barrysloate
Thanks for that Kyle. Simpsons' fans consider that to be one of the all-time great episodes. I recall Mr. Burns earlier asking Smithers to dig up Cap Anson and Honus Wagner for the team. Smithers tells him they've been dead for a hundred years, to which Burns replies he remembers when he asked Smithers to dig up Charlie Chaplin, "and he didn't smell so good at that" (of course some may remember that Charlie Chaplin's body was once actually stolen from its burial plot).

Just checked my Simpsons bible and Burns also asked for "Three Finger" Mordecai Brown, but no reference to Charlie Chaplin. Maybe I'm confusing episodes. Oh well.

Posted By: Josh Adams
Haha, that's a great episode.
Mr. Burns: I wonder if this Mordacai Brown is related to Homer Simpson?
Smithers: Probably not sir. They spell and pronounce their names completely different.

I love that show.

Posted By: barrysloate
Josh- the logistics of that episode were difficult. Each time a National League team flew in to play the Dodgers, or an American League team came in to play the Angels, the players came to the studio to record their lines. So it is likely there was never more than one player there at any time. It's an extremely well written episode, from when the show was still a classic. Today, it's a shell of its former self.
