Posted By: Rhys
I have seen a few examples of real calendars, most recently at the Chicago Sun Times Show about 14 months ago a dealer had two that were slightly beat up. I remember one of the teams was Boston AL and I cant remember the other team I saw. It certainly is a legitimate issue, but without seeing this copy in person it is impossible to tell if it is real or not.

Rhys

Here's a scan from the book:

To me the color of the ebay listing does not look the same..too grey.

Patrick

Posted By: Dan Bretta
The only reason I said that I assumed they were fake was because the first time I saw it on ebay I checked the other items the seller had for sale and most of it was the questionable stuff that is sold by the scammers - Mammy cookie jars, Red Rock Cola calendars and crap like that.

The seller of the recent one on ebay does not appear to sell that kind of stuff, but after checking the first one I had assumed all to be fake.

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
Another red flag for me was the careful description by the seller..."I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THIS IS AN OLD CALENDAR AND ASSUME IT IS A 1910 PRINT OF A RED SOX CALENDAR THAT WAS INSERTED INTO A PUBLICATION AS A MARKETING PREMIUM..." The key word being PRINT!

Patrick

Posted By: leon
I asked the seller if they were revealing the reserve on the item. Their response of "Well now, that would take all of the fun out of it, wouldn't it?" was so inspiring I chose not to bid. It looks like their flippant response might have saved me a headache.....
