Posted By: whitehse
The experience I have had is that these original cards in the Topps t206 "holder" have a tendency to sell higher if for no other reason to prove the authenticity of the card. I always felt most novice collectors liked them in the Topps holder because it was almost like sending it to PSA or any other service. You dont get a grade but you know its real.

Do you collect in graded form?? Do you feel you bought these at a premium because of the cards being inserted in this Topps set?? Would PSA or SGC grade cards like these in the Topps "holder" and would they grade the original or the holder itself?

Just a late night rambling but I thought I would ask.

Posted By: Martin Neal
I always try to buy the card not the holder even as it applies to the buybacks. I am probably giving away a few secrets here but I cut them out to send to Psa for grading. I have purchased several t205s in the 30 dollar range that have graded ex. including a Fred Clarke. I also have cut out a T206 Dolly Stark that I paid $97.00 for that graded an ex. I have the t205 and the t206 sets on the registry.
On a side note, I once purchased on ebay a t206 buyback of Oldring fielding and the sleeve contained two cards. It was very hard to see. I kept it for about a year but the curiousity was killing me. I finally cut it out and it was another Oldring fielding. That's the closest I will ever come to opening a tobacco pack to find an original t206.
