Posted By: T206Collector
As you all know, I don't usually get into personal information on Net54, but thought it was worth mentioning that my wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy last Thursday and, as the title to this thread suggests, we named him Mathewson -- Matty for short.

I know another Board member has a son named "Chance" after Frank Chance.

Posted By: Dan Koteles
you should go and visit Factoryville, PA. I did and they have a big sign in town that states him proudly being born there AND with a color enlarged t206 image on the sign. I have a pic and will try to get it up here. This place is very beautiful to drive through.

Posted By: Mike
I'm trying to convince my wife that our next son should be Tyrus. I just like the name and I'm a big Tigers fan. But she keeps bringing up the Field of Dreams quote "None of us like the SOB when we were alive, so we told him to stick it!". I think i'll be overruled.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Paul, congrats on the new addition!

Mike, I tried to convince my wife to let me name one of our boys Tyrus and she laughed in my face. Sandy and Hank would have been my other top choices but I didn't even try to go there (she would have agreed to Henry but I really wanted Hank). Anyway, we agreed on two other names and until this day she has no idea that she was slightly duped and our twins indeed have a baseball-related set of names: Grant, Jackson.

Posted By: E, Daniel
My son got Joshua Paul Hawthorn Enright.
Hawthorn is the name of the football team back home in Australia I support. They played in every grandfinal (superbowl equiv.) between 1983-1991, winning 5 premierships. Grandfinal day is played on the last Saturday in September and most often falls on or around my birthday - 30th September..... imagine a better present
In 1989 they won the grandfinal in a match believed to be one of the greatest ever - it was on the 30th Sept. that year, and my 21st birthday.
The least I could give them was my son's middle name.

Daniel

Posted By: Bob
Paul, my congratulations as well to you and your family. I see you managed to sneak off to the White Plains Show a couple of days after the big event.

On a side note, I'm wondering if Thaddeus Hoy wreaked some havoc with that mini baseball bat a moment after that photo was taken.

Posted By: T206Collector
I can explain!

We live 10 minutes from the Westchester County Center and my wife and both of our boys were both sleeping from 1:30 - 4:00. If you check the time-stamped security camera tape -- and I know you will -- you will see I was in the door at 2:00 and out by 3:15, with my latest submission to SGC. And, of course, the entire trip was sanctioned by Sarah well in advance. And, let's face it, I'd have never gotten away with the name Mathewson unless I had the most baseball-card supportive wife in the universe.

Posted By: E, Daniel
Hey Jason,

No aussie baseball cards unfortunately, i've really only seen some oj's that made their way over there that were a little bit interesting....but didn't collect baseball until I moved here (or gridiron, basketball, etc...).

Sydneysider huh? Beautiful place, love the beer (Reches is a personal fav.) but hell to drive around!! Does help to drive a flashy car though, if you want to meet some of the prettier girls......nah, that's not true - what girl in a bikini on Bondi beach doesn't look pretty damn amazing!!!
Only thing rugby league I've got is a nice pin from 31' of the St.George Dragons - stunning piece.

Hope you enjoyed your time there, I know some of the locals can give the yanks a hard time

Kindest Regards
Daniel

Posted By: Jason L
doesn't hurt the eyes, either!

My wife and I lived there for a couple years, had a great time, and yeah, the fact that some of the locals are tough on us Yanks made it more fun, truth be told.

Does the name Wendell Sailor ring a bell? He was playing League for Brisbane, I think, when I was there...that guy was a monster! but then I think he went over to Aussie Rules...?

Anyway, incredible country, great people, and I do indeed wonder occasionally, why we ever came back!
