Posted By: John S
I have handled a fair share of Ramly's and I have never seen one with this type of uneveness of border coloration (mainly right side towards center of card). At first glance it looks as if sections of the border peeled and were re-touched. It has already been under my binoc-scope at 40x and the black light....nothing conclusive either way. Should the fact that it is PSA-holdered make me feel any better? Re-colored or a printing flaw?

I'm not sure what appearance-wise happens if a Ramly has the layers separate and then they are "laid down" again by someone simply flattening the card under weight. Also, if hot liquid (like tea or coffee) fell on the gold border and it was almost immediately wiped away, would the discoloration you see then result? I don't think there is anything wrong with the card that indicates tampering, and the likelihood of it happening on a Good condition common are slim.

As to your other question, "buy the card and not the slab" is the dictate of the day. There's nothing wrong with investigating things yourself as you have done. Cards are graded by people. (Although one company had a rating of "untouched" or something like that, so they were likely grading those cards using monkeys.)

DavidVargha@hotmail.com

Maybe someone had it in some kind of holder - or maybe had pressed or crimped edges down somehow.

I don't see how that exactly relates to the light spot on the right border, but if someone had it clamped down or in some kind of scrapbook or picture frame it could have caused the color discontinuity on the right border as well.

Joann

Posted By: David Smith
Are there marks on the back in the same place as the color variation? If so, then Joanne may be right. The card could have been in something with the right side of the card protruding. The only way to remove the card could have been to grab it at that spot and pull it out. That discoloration could be wear from a thumb mark. If there is wera on the back of the card in the same spot, then that could be where your first finger held the card.
Just a guess.

David

I think this is what your looking at when your asking about the dark lines on the left side and on the bottom. Ive also owned quite a few that have the same discoloration on the edge you mention. Very similiar to T205's appearance. It can flake off and discolor as this one shows. The card looks fine to me in my opinion.

Tony
