Back damage on 1915 Cracker Jacks

But, I have a quick question (or two) for those who know of or actually do collect the set.<br /><br />How common are damage and writing/marks on the backs of 15' Cracker Jacks? Is it rare? And how would it compare to T and E issues of that era, especially T206's.<br /><br />thanks in advance

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>1915 Cracker Jacks are no worse off than other vintage cards in terms of back problems or other flaws. They are fairly plentiful, partly because the company offered people the complete set by mail (unlike the 1914 issue). You can pretty much find all of them- there are no rarities- but they can be expensive. Good luck!

Posted By: <b>B.C.D.</b><p>Barry,in theory what you state in view of the ability to acquire the set complete from the factory makes sense but still the last few cards in the set seem to be tougher to find. if you look over th pop reports,it appears for reasons that defy any logic,the survival rate of a few is much lower than the others though none are that high!<br><br>BcD <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>

Posted By: <b>Frank Wakefield</b><p>My understanding is that there is slightly more demand for the 1915 cards above 144, ie 145-176. This is not because they are shortprinted. it is because some folks did and still do collect just trying to get 1 - 176, without great concern about whether a card is from the 1914 or 1915 issue. Also, there are a few cards that were in 1914 that didn't carry over to 1915, and there is a slight premium on the 1914 and 1915 numbers in that situation.<br /><br /><br />If that 1 - 176 without concern for the year seems nonsensical, consider that a fellow working on both at the same time would be more likely to get different cards as he progressed, initially, rather than trying for two of one guy, then two of the next...<br /><br /><br />Frank.

Posted By: <b>James Gallo</b><p>I find that there are not as many Cracker Jacks with back damage as other T and Caramel cards.<br /><br />I think rat/bug damage is more of a problem, so you see a lot of cards missing corners or with spots of paper loss but not the same type of damage from say being in an album.<br /><br />That being said my johnson has a NM front and heavy back damage.<br /><br />I have a bunch of extra Cracker Jacks so LMK when you take your next step.<br /><br />Good luck it's a fun set and feel free to drop me a line with any questions.<br /><br />Best<br /><br />James Gallo<br><br>Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.
