Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Your Orange Elberfeld is one neat card....if you ever decide to part with it....I would
be very interested in acquiring it.

Also, my experience on the Waddell portrait is that the deeper Blue ones are usually
from the 350 series, and the lighter Blue are usually representative of the 150 series.

Do these two you have displayed here follow this pattern ?

Happy New Year to you,

TED Z

Posted By: J Hull
Hi Ted.

I'll check the backs of the Waddells tonight. I too have noticed the pattern of different blue shadings on them. What I haven't generally seen, though I could just have missed it, and what I like about the cards I have, is the brown/red contrast in his uniform trim. It's quite obvious on these two cards.

Jamie

The darker blue on the right is Sweet Caporal 150, Factory 30.

The orange Elberfeld is a cool-looking card, I agree. No plans to sell it though, but I'll make a note that you could be interested should that ever change.

Happy New Year

Jamie

What the heck, here's a couple more HOFers.

Posted By: Martin Neal
Ted,

Both of these are from the 150 series. They're exactly the same as Jamie's, the lighter one being a Piedmont and the darker of the two being a Sweet Caporal.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Thanks Jamie and Martin

My theory is that the Piedmont cards were the very first T206's to be printed.
And, after completing an all-Piedmont set of 518 cards, I noticed that when they
printed the subsequent brands (SC, Sov, etc), they must have used a richer Blue
ink. If you look at all the blue colored Piedmonts in the 150 Series you will notice
a pale Blue background.
When you look at the 350 series cards (even Piedmont) the Blue colors are richer.
Chase (portrait), Burchell, Clymer, Knabe, Knight, etc, etc. come to mind.

Ted Z

The production manager on this issue must've been drunk all the time.
Dan McKee has a stack of Leaf color variations as well, hopefully he'll post some.
