Posted By: leon
As promised this is the first of the monthly contests for free card(s)...sponsored by the banner ads. There will be 1-2 of these a month. Any board member is open to winning. First person to answer the question IN THIS THREAD WINS. God forbid something happen in shipping, and the card gets lost, I will replace it with a like-valued card. Even the board members that think I am the devil and hate me are eligible. I hold no grudges. There is literally no one in the hobby I hate. Everyone has a right to their opinions. SO without further ado....here is the first trivia question. I don't think it will be too tough. This is the card that will be won too (pictured here). Please don't be Coy .

Around 2-3 years ago I had a major find (to me) from what I call the Trucker Boy find. In that find there was one uncataloged card from the H998 set. Who was it?

Posted By: Richard
Maybe I'm way off (again), but according to past posts Rich Klein asked to view and catalogue the set when you announced you had it. Is there any chance the whole set was uncatalogued? Or was this just Rich performing his due diligence?

Richard.

Posted By: leon
The correct answer fo this first question was "no one" as I made a mistake....The Trucker Boy find had a complete set of the Western Playgrounds but there were no uncat ones......it was actually the E224 set I meant to say.........so start your engines again...sorry for my mistake...I feel sort of stupid.....not the first time for that ......Who was the uncat card in E224?

Posted By: leon
Sorry 'bout that. He put the answer in the message title and I didn't see it until I had the official play review. Had it not been overturned Geno would have lost a time out. I will try my best not to screw the next one up. I think I am still a little dizzy from last night/this morning. Happy New Year to all.....

Posted By: JK
hey leon, its nothing to apologize for - I was only kidding. I didnt see geno's post initially either - but actually felt like even if he hadnt posted, it should have gone to paul since I forgot to put the "e" at the end of oakes and technically was incorrect anyway.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Since I wasn't online and was watching my Huskers blow the game against the Aubbies I think it would be fairer on the next contest to have a guess the score type contest over a trivia question that will be answered within minutes. Perhaps a Super Bowl contest guessing game??

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

edited to add: It might even bring some of the shy lurkers out there into the open if they have a chance to win a free card.

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I like the idea of a contest... thank you banner ad folks.

And I like the idea of having something that might not be instantly won, since I left home before this started today, and have returned to see it is over. More of us could enjoy participating if we knew about it in advance, and it had some time element to it.

Still, a great idea, thank you Leon and banner folks!!!

Posted By: leon
As with most things a first try is just that. I have an idea for the next one and it will let everyone participate......so keep the ideas coming and I appreciate ya'll not tar and feathering me for messing up so badly on this first try. Also, I didn't really mention it but I too would like to thank the banner advertisers and hope they can generate more business from the ads. We are fairly well set with the way the board will look for a at least a while. There will be some more banner ads on the BST pages as folks are signed up. best regards

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I'm not sure NU's Defense has ever given up so few yards and still lost. Callahan finds new ways to lose all the time.

Congrats to your Tigers. You should be proud of your players and coaches, they are a class act.

Posted By: warshawlaw
The SNAFU over the non-answer to the first question reminds me of that Cheers episode when Cliff went on Jeopardy. The final question was to state the stage names of three actors (it was Cary Grant, Joan Crawford and one other). Since Cliff, who'd been the big winner to that point, didn't know it, he wrote "who are three people I've never met?" then raised a big stink about how his answer was technically correct.
