Posted By: Glen V
They are in the SCD. Medwick booked for $30 in 2005. Looks like the price went up a bit...

So what if they were cut to that size by a candy distributor? (highly debatable) They are nothing special as they aren't a truly unique issue IMO.

(typo corrected)

DavidVargha@hotmail.com

Posted By: Zach Rice
These cards are not cut outs from the S&S issue but a seperate issue. These cards have blank white backs while the S&S cards do not. I own one and have seen a few others, some of which carried the overprint Home Run Bar on the back.

Posted By: Tim Newcomb
This is not a cut or trimmed card. It's a separate and (technically) uncataloged issue which used the S&S Game card photos, but it was issued in a square format rather than the more commonly found playing card shape. So it is a legit issue that SGC could grade--- but IMO it still doesn't constitute any kind of serious rarity. Also IMO BMW's price is high.

Posted By: Rhys
I have owned two different of these, one with a candy ad and one without. They are not and can not be cutouts from the S&S game because they measure quite a bit taller than the game cards. The game cards are a VERY standard size and are never bigger or longer than each other, but these cards are taller to an extent that it could not have been cut from the game. They may have come from the same company that made the cards for both issues, but they are absolutely not cutouts.

Rhys Yeakley

Posted By: David Vargha
Rhys, that is my belief as well -- that they had the same source of production and were made from the same stock (not that someone manually cut them down to size for their candy). Thanks for expressing it far better than I did. As such, I don't consider them a "rarity" like I would cards that used the same source photos but were produced completely separately. Maybe it's an artificial delineation. Either way, the cards are worth exactly what someone is willing to purchase them for on any given day.

DavidVargha@hotmail.com

Posted By: fkw
They are not cut down versions of a S&S. If you look closer the top and bottom borders are much wider so there is no way to fake one from a S&S even the scarcer S&S with the cream backs. It is a separate issue and very rare. They are always on my wantlist and I missed this one, but the price is far too high anyways . $500 would be what Id expect.

Posted By: fkw
Hi Tim I meant $500 would be a better asking price from BMW. I never pay full price....... If I had it I would ask about $500 for it is more what I meant. I would pay 3X book for any with the back stamp in any shape.

Posted By: Rhys
I think I got about $175 for the last common that I sold, which was about 2 years ago. I am guessing that the full retail price on the Medwick graded a 7 would be about $600-$700.
