Posted By: steve f
Tried searching to no avail...

Though the uniform looks 'Cleveland' Home, I'm fairly certain that is an Athletics logo.

Am unable to find out if Cy was condidered for sale to Philly during the 1909 trade from the Sox to the Naps. I did read that Connie Mack had his eye on him for many years and wouldn't be surprised with Mr Mack's determination and seemingly unlimited budget. Help please.

If this topic is a rehash, I apologize.

Posted By: T206Collector
It is the A from Americans.

This is Young's Boston jersey, which used to have an ornate B and A on the chest. Check out his E107 card -- just Google image "Cy Young E107"

Posted By: barrysloate
According to Mark Okkonen's book "Baseball Uniforms of the 20th Century" the only time Boston had "B A" on its uniform was 1908. But T206 is famous for recycling photos that were taken as far back as 1903, so no big surprise here. But I too never noticed the "A" after all these years.

Posted By: barrysloate
Actually, we may have both gotten it wrong. I didn't turn all the way back to the first page, but he shows the "B A" uniform in 1902, then not again until 1908. But I also know he published a subsequent edition that I don't have with some corrections. Perhaps that is one of them.

Posted By: greg
I've noticed that for many of the t206 Boston American cards there seems to be a bit of "artistic license" regarding the details of the uniforms/caps.

The "A" and the uniform for this Cy card could very well be for the Bostons, but there seems to be some license in the color of the hat bill and the jersey collar (black?).

In addition to those sources listed above, another great reference source on uniform details that I posted in another thread is that from the National Baseball Hall of Fame:

http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/exhibits/online_exhibits/dressed_to_the_nines/uniforms.asp?league=AL&city=Boston&lowYear=1901&highYear=1915&sort=year&increment=15

Hope this helps, for whatever it's worth...

Greg
Posted By: MVSNYC
not to get O/T, but speaking of the weather in NYC, my co-workers and i just ran around for an hour in the rain, going from restaurant to restaurant looking to accomodate 7 people...we had a reservation at Nicole Farhi's, E. 60th st. (old Copacabana)...BUT they had a flood, and closed...then we ran over to Fred's @ Barney's, they were full, then over to Bergdorf's restaurant, full...then to TAO, full...everybody ended up getting wraps at a deli...

whata crazy day...

back on topic...

T206Collector- awesome research!
