Posted By: cn
I have been a NY Giants season ticket holder since I can remember. My long deceased Grandfather had them since the 40's. During the Gulf War in 1991 my brother an Air Force Pilot went to a Giant game and was offended that during the National Anthem employees of the Giants (non-players) on the sideline did not remove their caps. He wrote a general letter to the Giants about this. He was surprised to recieve a handwritten letter from Mr. Mara stating that this would not happen again. It is 2005 and I have gone to close to 100 games since then and not one employee has had his hat on since that letter. The late Wellington Mara was a class act and remembered all war heros and should be commended.

Posted By: jay behrens
Isn't that ship's name Forestfire? They had another major fire while

I served in the navy. At the time of the fire, they were supposed to film the movie Top Gun on it. Since it was out of commission, they filmed it on the Enterprise. They even changed the number on the Enterprise to that of the Forestall. In return, the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was filmed on the Forestall. A bunch of us from engineroom I worked in on the Enterprise went to seethe movie. We about busted a gut a when they showed wha was supposed to be the reactor room with steam billowing in it. If that were the case, there would be a major problem.

During the shooting of Top Gun I met Tom Cruise, he comes up to about belly, The guy is a midget. I got spend a decent amount of time with Anothy Edwards showing him around the ship. He wanted someone to tell him about the Navy that wasn't someone that the Navy gave them to tell him about it.

Jay

I love pinatas. Posted By: Rhys
I have been reading a book on past Heisman trophy winners which was made even more poignant lately with it being veterans day. I think just about every Heisman trophy winner from the late 1930's through the early 1940's gave up so much of a sports career to serve their country. People like Nile Kinnick, Tom Harmon, Angelo Bertelli and many others either died, or almost died serving their country. Not that their sacrifice was anything more than the ones made by my ancestors or anyone else's, it just makes you realize how much so many Americans have given up so that we can live in this country and enjoy collecting Sports Memorabilia.
