Posted By: Max Weder
Bob Brown Bear is presently being auctioned on-line, with proceeds going to charity. Bob is arguably the world's largest Obak, standing 7 feet tall, and sporting a painted copy of the Bob Brown Obak card sticking out of his back pocket. He's wearing the uniform of the Vancouver Beavers. The real Bob Brown is of course featured in the Obak set. Bob Brown was not only a player, but was a long time coach and owner and was involved in Vancouver baseball for over fifty years.

For those of you interested, the link is below. The bidding is presently at $2600 and ends on November 15. Of the 29 bears that were auctioned in a live auction 2 weeks ago in Vancouver, the average selling price was $19,000, with the high sale of $50,000.

<a href="http://www.gobid.ca/cgi-bin/single_display.pl?item_id=1340876</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://www.gobid.ca/cgi-bin/single_display.pl?item_id=1340876</a>

Let me know if you have any questions, or would like any other pictures of Bob.

Max

(posted on main forum with kind permission of m.d.)

Here's another one, Kromode bear:

As for the high prices, I can only attribute it to a booming Vancouver economy, no government deficits and large amounts of alcohol at the auction dinner.

Max
