Posted By: Josh K.
In case you are planning to bid on this card, it may have been trimmed on the bottom and on the right side.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&item=290035591607&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&rd=1

I will post scans of one thats been graded for comparison.

Posted By: Josh K.
I will say, in comparing them side by side, it does look like the ebay card has some a more space above johnson's head than on mine - so I guess it could also be miscut - any other opinions?

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I think it's just miscut. I didn't notice any cards in that collection that looked trimmed.

Posted By: Jeff Prizner
With all the writing on the back, I wonder how much the possible trim aspect of the card will really effect this auction?

Very cool card though, Exhibits always have the best images!

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
I find the allusion to Johnson trimming to be a religious insult to those who prefer it raw and natural. And this discussion should be deleted in its entireity.

Subtle political incorrectness is the most damaging. All of you anti-semantics need to be taught a lesson!

Posted By: T206Collector
...it was not trimmed. I think the way the corners are rounded at the bottom -- i.e., more rounded at the bottom than on the sides -- is further evidence that this is a miscut.

Posted By: warshawlaw
But if at all it was vintage.

Coincidentally, I was going to post about this seller. He is going through a truly massive exhibit collection and selling a lot of cards for good bucks but I haven't seen a single one delivered. It has been two weeks since the seller marked my payment as received for the first batch of cards and I've received nothing. I have some more wins to pay for and I am getting worried about sending him more money. I emailed him this week about the situation and was told:

"Sorry for any delay - I have so many buyers asking to pay all at once or hold and combine shipping that it's getting pretty complicated trying to keep it all organized. If you have noticed I have listed a bunch of cards so I have held up on shipping my first batch - My plan is to try and get some shipped on Wed. - I will email all buyers when I do make shipment - Once again sorry for the delay but I do want to get 100% sent out correctly to all the buyers."

It is now Friday and I've not received an email telling me the cards were mailed. I have no reason to state that these auctions are not legit or that the seller will not deliver on the goods, but I am starting to get nervous about the situation.

Has anyone who won something from this seller received it yet? If so, please post it here and I will do the same if I get my cards.

Posted By: Joe D.
but I think it is trimmed as well.

I tried to line them up in photoshop... and had a fun time at it.

The eBay listing uses a photo of the card - and the card is sort of tilted (whereas Josh's is a flat scan) -
so my comparison might be faulty -
but I am going with miscut and trimmed.

Posted By: Dave Rey
Well, you can definitely see that the cut is different because there is still image to the left of Johnson's shoe on the raw PC and the extra sky above Johnson on the raw PC matches up with the less space below the name on the bottom of the PC.

The two PCs just have a bit of cut variation, since these are full-bleed cards, it is highly likely there is "play" side to side and up and down on every one of these PC -- likely, very few would be identical in image position to another of the same PC.

You certainly can't use Photoshop to compare the two as there could be large differences in the resolutions that cause the sizing to not be exact for that sort of comparison.

I think the funkiness of the image largely comes from the downward angle the raw PC was shot from -- that has a tendency to distort the up and down direction. Simple optical perception that anybody that deals with amateur-shot images understands and regularly sees.

That being said -- I can't (and neither can anybody else here) make any absolute judgments as to trimming without having the card in my paws.

Posted By: anthony
my guess is that if the card were trimmed it was a long time ago...the wear looks pretty even...

as for the delay in card delivery and the sellers response, i think i would of told him that next time he should consider selling less cards at one time as to not risk getting a negative feedback and ruin that 100% feedback for his delay of "your" cards when someone else is asking that their's be held...that might speed up your delivery

Posted By: warshawlaw
and still no cards.

I emailed the seller yesterday demanding my cards and he responded by telling me that he was holding them all for a single shipment which had not gone out since I had not yet paid for the two most recent cards I won (nevermind that I have paid his $3 shipping fee on all the prior invoices). He said he would ship today on the ones paid to date if I wanted; I told him to do so. I am not sending him another dime until I see my already paid cards and I would advise the folks here to do the same with theirs. Maybe if the cash flow dries up we will see some cards.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
What an odd way to do business for someone with 100% feedback and over 1000 transactions. I guess I'll email him and tell him that I won only one card and that I have no intention of bidding on another so he can go ahead and send me my card.

Posted By: Jeff Drum
I finally received an e-mail yesterday saying that the Rixey Exhibit I won had been shipped. Not bad, only 14 days after I mailed the money order. That is, if it has been shipped. I checked last night and he had yet to receive feedback from anyone who had won an Exhibit. Not worried yet, lots of positive feedback but will affect my bidding on future lots.

Posted By: warshawlaw
No wonder it took so long to ship; the packaging was the most overblown thing I've seen since my last auction house win came in. I got a box the size of a phone book with several feet of bubble wrap encasing another box that had another pile of bubble wrap enclosing several postal envelopes that housed the cards individually. Way more elaborate than needed; I can't imagine doing 150 of them like that. Only gripe I had (besides it taking 3 weeks for him to ship an item paid for by Postal MO) was that I did pay for insurance which was not applied to the package.

So, I guess this seller is for real. I am going to send payment on my remaining cards shortly and I guess I'll see them around Thanksgiving

Posted By: Jeff Drum
I would like to add that I was pleased with the overall condition as well. As an earlier poster surmised the typing looks to have been done by inserting the botton of the EX behnd the ribbon. Cards have definitely not been through the roller.
