The card shown here can be an Ebay 6. A fake card could be an Ebay 1 or 2 (if it is particularly nice). Recolored or trimmed = 3 and 4. Beat beyond belief but at least 75% intact = Ebay 5. And so on.

Think how much time it would save us all if every listing on fleabay had a subtitle for the Ebay grade. We could run searches to weed out all Ebay graded cards.

My only question here is whether or not the cards have to be original/authentic to have a grade assigned to them?

Perhaps part of the PSA training course is to have their newly enlisted graders look at PSA graded cards on ebay and then use those as examples of how they should grade cards. This leads to the theory that many of the PSA graders, that failed their high school proficiency tests, couldn't distinguish the difference between PSA, PRO or ASA. It's easy to see how PSA and ASA could easily become confused. PSA and PRO are pretty close also.
