Posted By: RayB
Having spent the last number of years as a student/collector of pre-war stuff and enjoying these Boards during that period a simple question dawned on me today that I didn't ever here or have seen brought up here; and maybe this one's for Leon:
Why "Network 54" ? What's in that particular name; and how does it relate to pre-war?
Thanks in advance to anyone that has the real or witty answer
RayB

Posted By: leon
The answer is quite easy. The hosting company is Network54. This site was never meant to attract millions of people only our small niche. There have been attempts to change the name but all have been warded off successfully....regards

Posted By: leon
After reading the Sports Collectors Bible recently I think I like the original ACC numbering quite a bit. Only a few of the SCB catalogue numbers have stuck....like "N"'s, WG's, and a few others. Bert Suger also changed a few things in it....which I am not sure is good...He changed Four Base Hits to N695 while Burdick gave it (specifically)

690 ..Chas.Gross Co.,Kalamazoo Bats - varying sizes, Four Base Hits. $1.00

693 Baseball Teams, Kalamazoon Bats, Cabinets

I like the Burdick one better...
best regards
