Posted By: leon
I would like some comments on this grade. I have absolutely nothing to do with this auction. I am perplexed on the grade...and understand these were handcut....but c'mon....Does this make sense? Not sure what to think....I like Bob's 10 better....

http://cgi.ebay.com/1922-W501-104-Frank-Frisch-Giants-SGC-70-EX_W0QQitemZ170017386877QQihZ007QQcategoryZ57993QQ ssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: Mike Campbell
If that's a 70, then I have a few hundred cards that I need to resubmit to SGC. Who in their right mind would grade that a 70 ? No further comment is necessary. Ubsurd....

I thought that trimmed cards only received an AUTH label unless it's a Zeenut or strip card. Perhaps the submitter sent it in on the third Friday of an even month when Venus and Mars were aligned with the second moon of Pluto.

I still think that any card that has been trimmed (and this includes ZEENUTS with trimmed off coupons) should not receive a numerical grade. An AUTH designation for such card pretty much sums things up. The person looking at an AUTH card can decide if they think it'd be a 60, 84 or 40 if it were not trimmed.

They won't grade a Fleischmann's D381 without coupon but will a Zeenut without coupon (from a year that was supposed to have one). They won't give a numerical grade to many handcut cards but did this one? I said in my first post that I know these were handcut and came that way....but why the 70, when many others won't numerically grade, that have the same issue? (love the inuendo's about me getting lambasted recently over the corner of the T222 )....I love the wit on the board (sometimes)....
