Posted By: dave
I know most all the tabacco cards go well above the SMR listed prices on ebay, but am curious about cards like the 1952 topps, I havent been watching them, do they typically get SMR value on ebay? less?

Posted By: Bobby
I have a member who has 2 -1952 Topps Master sets and he had no idea of the prices he paid so he just entered the current SMR values for his price in his "My Collection" section. And the true selling value was much higher.

Posted By: Cat
My favorite example is the M101-5 Sisler rookie which is listed in PSA 4 as a $50 card. The last one sold on EBay for $2,200.

________________

http://www.audiocomedy.net/soundboards/jacket.shtml

Posted By: edacra

What would be easier to sell at a premium, a PSA 4 or a GAI 5.5? I mean, does slabbing a random card from a scarce set automatically up the value even when it's in VG condition.

I just know I see a lot of cards on ebay with PSA grading that are sellling in the $25 range...and which barely covers the grading at retail, with shipping.

Posted By: James Gallo
The prices are SOOO off all around on anything pre 1950s.

It seems most of the stuff post mid 1960s doesn't even get SMR unless it's a 9 or better or a HOF.

I don't understand how this can be so off.

There were a bunch of E-90 commons that sold on ebay last week. these cards were all PSA 1 and PSA 2

PSA SMR as a 4 is $70. All this cards sold for over $150 each.

I don't know how any guide can be THAT off.

James Gallo

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

Posted By: andy becker
it's very simple....psa puts no effort into their price guide. none.
i thought when it first came out that they priced cards low to show an expanding market....but they have not updated anything.
the smr is worth about the same as the rest of the retail catalogs that hit my house.....

There are 4 on EBAY now (including a store listing.)

As far as getting SMR, one recently closed for $96. A card can close much higher or lower than another example on EBAY, depending on who is looking for the card at a particular time. You will most likely get $80 to $120 for it. It is impossible to tell.
