Posted By: Brian H (misunderestimated)
Dan -
My guess is that you posted this (primarily) because it was a PSA card but it raises some interesting issues.

I think the qualifier in the grade "MK") flags it -- I guess it could also be deemed an "Authentic" although at that point the distinction is based not on the mark/erasure itself but the (presumed) intention of the person who made the mark (or the attempt to erase the mark), which is I don't really think is as clear as a trimming or recoloring.

Posted By: Joann
SGC is much better.

Joann

(hee. Sorry Peter. Couldn't resist. I don't really have an opinion either way, except that I like the SGC black holders, and PSA is much more lenient on paper loss on the back. That's neither a statement of better nor worse, just observation.)

You really do need to take a chill a pill when these types of posts come up. Dan didn't even mention in his subject header that the card was PSA. You might have a point if he did that and then went on about bad PSA is. He didn't, but you still feel you have jump in and cause a ruckus every time someone posts something bad about PSA.

Just sit back, relax and don't feel you have to jump to PSA's defense every time. Especially in a pretty benign post like this one.

Jay

I love pinatas. You get to beat the crap of something and get rewarded with candy.

Posted By: Peter_Spaeth
Jay, if you have any good chill pills send them my way.
Fred, I had Marlon Brando's "Kurtz" in Apocalypse Now in mind more than Conrad's original words in the novel (great book by the way). Hope I didn't violate any copyright laws.

Posted By: fkw
What I got from the post if you read it correctly, Dan was saying someone tried to remove the "Red ink" ie. the "Boston" on uniform and the red stripes on hat. Many of the Boston players will be found with no red ink, or varying shades of the "Boston" visible (sometimes seen as a very light brownish-tan color). I have owned 3 Speakers like this, one had no "Boston" at all (missing all red ink), the other 2 had extremely light tannish colored "Boston" printed on the uniform. All three were sold for a much higher amount that a normal Speaker. I cant say for sure if this cards red ink was tampered with, but it sort of looks that way especially around the hat red ink lines.
