Posted By: milbroco
Sorry about the failed previous post.....However, this is a 1909 World Series Panoramic Photo I thought many of you collectors may enjoy seeing. The Photo is in 5 parts. The lower left part is the Pirates team with Honus Wagner. The lower right part is the Tigers team with Hugh Jennings, Sam Crawford and some guy named Ty Cobb. The left and right upper parts are the left and right grandstands. The upper middle part is the playing field with the inscription "Cobb at bat, Crawford on deck and Jennings coaching". Nice little mention of three Hall Of Famers. This is probably the highlight of my sports collection. Hope everyone enjoys.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Barry, it looks like it was a supplement to the Pittsburgh's Illustrated Weekly. Probably a sunday newspaper supplement. Very nice piece.

Posted By: barrysloate
The folds in it suggested it originated as a magazine or newspaper supplement. Several teams offered similar composite prints, among them the Chicago Cubs for several years at about the same time. My understanding is you could purchase them at the ballpark for one cent, and for another penny they would ship it to you in a mailing tube. At least you can't accuse the Cubs of price gouging their fans.

Posted By: RobertS
The name of the publication was The Index.

I actually found this entire issue in a barn sale several years ago. This particular issue that included your supplement also featured photos of the World Series and the crowds in the publication itself, including its cover shot (I think my issue may be missing the supplement, if memory serves).

If I can dig it up, I will scan the cover...

By the way, did you buy this supplement from Ron Vitro at last weekend's White Plains show?
