Posted By: Joann
I bid on this card as a kind of half bookmark and half whimsical thing and ended up winning it. I think it's kind of cool, but really have no good idea of what it is - only that it is from pre-Castro Cuba and that I have this growing fascination w/Cuba, Havana, would love to visit there sometime, etc.

I found a similar image but different caption on cubanball.com, but other than that have no idea where it fits. It is numbered, so it appears to have been part of a set. The auction text gives info about the local team, but not so much the card.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll branch into Cuban non-baseball images - some of the non-baseball, but pre-Castro Cuba/Havana, cards I found trying to google this thing were really neat.

Any info on this one or anything even similar, the set, etc., appreciated.

Joann

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019628200&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Posted By: Chad
I wish I did, but I'm unfamiliar with the issuer. My guess is that it's part of a larger set that contains few sports images. I'm intrigued, though. I think tomorrow I'll do some digging and I'll post here if I find anything.

Oh yeah, if you ever want to sell it, I'd be interested. I'm almost done with my 26-27 Aguilitas set and that picture of the stadium would be an excellent companion piece.

Man, it's nice to see all these threads about the Latin stuff!

--Chad
