Posted By: leon
Anyone seen many/any of these? The big book SCD says they are probably a team issue. When someone sent in for an autograph or pic they would get one of these sent back. I guess most folks aren't interested in them as it didn't get any bids and I got it for the opening bid on ebay. Maybe $99 was too much but it filled a hole. That always feels good . This is one of those times I took the card and can upgrade later (maybe)........ I don't remember seeing many of these, though I am sure they are out there. I know this is a bit late for the board too, but it never hurts to ask... ... and it's still pre-WWII..(actual size)
"

Posted By: Paul
I've been looking for the Newhouser from that set for many years and have never found it. The seller of your card told me that he believes it doesn't exist. Yours is the first example of any player from that set that I have ever seen. I thought it was well worth the $99, but I just can't bring myself to pay money for a player I've never heard of.

I think SCD had a couple of articles on these cards just a short time ago, don't have the issues anymore though. For some reason cannot upload the picture.

Joe

Posted By: Bob Pomilla
Guess Birdie achieved a LITTLE more fame as manager of the Indians in the mid 60's.

Posted By: Paul
Actually, I had forgotten to take a second look at the card when I made my post. I do know who Birdie Tebbets is. I collect Hall of Famers and a few borderline folks who never quite made the Hall, and Birdie Tebbets just doesn't quite make the cut for me. My pickiness is Leon's gain. I think he got a great deal on an impossible card.
