Posted By: Zach Rice
Jay, there was a Voskamps Booe on ebay a few weeks back. It was rough but it went pretty low, under $300. I was pretty disappointed in myself for not bidding, I need him for my set as well.

Though I will may never own any of these here is my list:

1.1913 Voskamp's Wagner
2.N690 Ewing or Ward, a common would work too Outbid on an Andrews last week
3.Kalamazoo Bats team cabinet with black mount of Philadelphia
4.N304 Ward
5.1888 Joseph Hall team cabinet of New York
6.1912 H813-Any
7. E300 Wagner

Any of those would make me a happy camper.

Edited to add that the M101-4 set is from 1916. Also, Chad, what is this Just so Tobacco Delehanty you speak of ?

So these are my "ten".

Sometimes I think that we too often in life spend time thinking about what we "want" or "need"... If we were to list 5 things we "want", and then look at the list, how many of us would have listed something that we already have? I truly want some of the things I already have, even more than some of these cards... Now let me have an 11th, a Harry Wright N173 Old Judge cabinet card.

Good thinking on that T208 Plank... that would be one fine card!

No one has mentioned a T200 premium...

Frank.

Posted By: Brian H (misunderestimated)
No real order -- this is actually almost a wanted list (except for a few that are a bit price-prohibitive at the moment):
1. 1936 WW Gum Joe Mccarthy (most frustrating card right now, I used to have a nice one that was stolen)
2-3. T205: Hoblitzel no stats/Wilhelm ("suffered")all my set lacks.
4. 1920's Cuban Oscar Charleston & most of the other Negro League players who were just inducted (long overdue, I think)who "have cards" from during their careers.
5. National Game/Tom Barker (I forget which one) 1913 GC Alexander (in a high grade)
6. "Cabinet" card circa 1870's w/Candy Cummings
7. "Cabinet" card circa 1890's-1900's w/Frank Selee (Cubs or Boston NL)
8. This one is a bit extravagant for now: Peck & Snyder (SP?)cabinet ("1st card")
9-10. Toletoros (SP?)Leon Day + Hilton Smith
------
Honorable mention: OJ Pete Browning
(if anyone can help please email me: bhodes@rcn.com)

See how young Ruth looks? Notice he buckles his belt far over on his hip - boys copied that style of buckling a belt at the hip for decades.

Posted By: George H. Counter
Hey kid, how did you come up with that list?
Do you have a clue who Jim Konstanty was? Lowdermilk? (No google cheating please!)

After reading most of your posts, I have to think that you bought the big book at the local Barnes and Noble and were marveled at the high ticket cards even without trying to know the players pictured on those cards.

IMO, this is not the way to start collecting.

A few pointers:

- Buy the 3 Lipset encyclopedia volumes and STUDY everything in it.
- Buy an Old Cardboard magazine subscription and some VCBC back issues.
- USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION ON THIS BOARD BEFORE POSTING... MOST OF THE ANSWERS ARE ALREADY THERE!
- Feel, smell and even lick the T206 freebie a board member is sending your way... If you are confortable doing it... Welcome aboard!

Take care!
