Posted By: David Seaborn
People always post cards they feel were undergraded. We ususally don't see too many we feel were overgraded from our own personal collections. I enjoyed the last thread so I thought I would turn it around and ask people to post and comment on a low grade card they have that received a higher than deserved grade. Here's mine....I won this one a few years ago (site unseen) and was shocked at the grade, especially for SGC. Not sure how that much back damage can be considered Vg/Ex. How in the world did this get the grade it did?

I blocked out the cert# because I've heard that PSA has a bad habit of decerting cards. If they don't then I'm just paranoid:

It has been cracked out so the grade really means nothing but is an example of a low grade card in a holder with a grade too high for its condition.

At least not as bad as that Latham.

I know it's not a baseball card, but I just sold this one a couple of weeks ago. It was my most generously graded card (a PSA 7*) and I almost felt guilty listing it, though I was fairly honest in my description:

Still a nice card, but probably only worthy of a 5.5 or marginal 6.

*It had an 07XXXXXX cert number. I've never been into PSA numerology, but I remember hearing once that those certs came from on-site grading. I always suspected some surreptitious activity between the dealer who presumably submitted it and PSA.
